You should experience it at least once
Rather interesting. After a few flights of stairs leading down into the cave, the rest of the way is flat albeit uneven which makes for an interesting walk, i.e. not so monotonous. It's also cool inside the cave so it was a comfortable respite during the summer. It's the same way in and out so when you feel you've had enough, you can just turn around and head back.

    Must visit in Jeju
Must visit while in Jeju! If you want to reach the cave by public transport either from Jeju or Seigowipo, take bus number 201 and get down at Manjanggul Cave entrance and then change the bus to 711-1 or 711-2 (check time table at the bus stop) and get down at the entrance of the cave. The hotel reception staff will say it is complicated to reach the cave by public transport and yes it is time consuming but can be done especially if u r solo, taking the bus is worth it Although Google says it’s open on all days, they are closed on the first Wednesday of every month, so plan accordingly.

    Absolutely worth a visit
Can absolutely feel the wonder of nature and immerse yourself in it. Well preserved and easy to reach, the cave is a great place to visit! Though only 1km is opened for public, you can find many different forms of igneous rock here and the whole atmosphere is so good here. Apart from the cave, there is an indoor information centre to learn the history of the place. Next to the center is a local restaurant offering fried cheese pork cutlet and udon! Recommend to give it a try also : ) Plenty of parking space is available.

Explore Manjanggul Cave, a World Natural Heritage Lava Cave
Jeju's Manjanggul Cave, known as a World Natural Heritage Site, is a natural cave that is 7.4km long. As of 2024, it is closed due to safety inspection. However, it is a must-visit attraction for tourists visiting Jeju. As of 2023, only a 1km section of the cave has been opened. You can explore the Jeju Lava Cave and cool off by walking a 2km round trip. The temperature inside the cave remains at 10 to 12 degrees all year round. It is warm in winter and cool in summer. It's a great place to explore with kids, and anyone interested in lava caves and volcanic activity will not regret visiting. If you visit the information center before entering the cave, it will help you easily understand Jeju's lava caves

I love this cave as it was calmy, a little bit wet but make you comfortable after a long walk from the bus stop. I had to walk 3km or more (I think) coz my legs felt so sore, but I love the walk inside the cave. If you take a public bus, don't finish up too late as you might miss the last bus.

One of the highlights of visiting Jeju is to see a lava tube ! Great to walk in 1km to see how lava carved out a large natural cavern .

The place is well maintained with appropriate signboards signposting all the relevant lava features along the route . Dimly lighted to ensure it is authentic without it being overly dangerous when dark . Nice place to visit and a go to site when you are in Jeju .

Wow, simply wow, what a absolute natural wonder the Manjanggul Lava Tube was to discover. Listed as a UNESCO and for good reason. Only one kilometre of the 7.4km long lava tube is accessible by the public, for a small fee (4000KWN Adult/2000KWN children over 7 years) this amazing site can be walked unguided. Be prepared and wear suitable clothing and footwear, outside the temperature was 21.6C, inside 10.1C, after descending down a staircase and remainder of the visit was flat but uneven, dimly lit, potholes full of water but that aside the lava tube was fascinating, a once in a life time experience for me. Along the way were information boards to read and coloured lights highlighting features of the cave. A car is a must to visit this site.

This site is also known as the Manjanggul Lava Tube which is one of 7 tubes in the Geomunoreum Lava Tube System and is a World Natural Heritage Site. This is a unique cave in that lava had flowed through it to form this cave. Lights within the cave illuminate its natural features and beauty. Other than a short flight of stairs down to the cave, it is mostly a flat uneven path. Hiking shoes are recommended. The section of the tube open to the public is about 1km long and can be completed in about an hour.

We’d been to see lava tubes in Undara volcanic national park (in Queensland, but these are an order of magnitude better! Approx 1 km walk through the tube, with the height varying from 4-5m to 20m+, with lots of interesting features to see along the way. It’s quite dark, and wet and the floors are quite rocky and broken up - so I would advise some trainers or walking shoes and a torch. The temperature drops abruptly when you walk down the steps and was at least 10C cooler than on the surface (and it was a cooler day when we went).

Don’t come here. It is so dimly lit that you hardly see anything worthwhile except a small section lit up at the very end. Not worth it. Just darkness most of the way. The floor is mostly uneven boulders and pools of water and very slippery with water dripping from the roof. Anyone of any age can get injured easily. The elderly should not come here for sure. Only a few sections have raised platforms for safe walking. Who cares if it is long? You can’t see much anyway.
If you want to see a lava tube there are easier and better lit ones on the island.

I have seen caves in China and they are beautifully lit up nicely and have proper walkways and bannisters.

Skip this dangerous place!

Unlike limestone caves with more dramatic formations and structures, there isn’t as many dramatic formations here but it is still a highly educational experience to see how such lava caved were formed with volcanic activity. The little museum at the cave entrance provides good English explanations for the geography of the area and the formation of the cave. Cave is mostly flat and quite an easy walk though lighting is deliberately kept dim except for a few areas. Well worth a visit.
