Quick experience, but good to see!
I enjoyed this experience. The employee takes you around and talks with you about all the turtles they currently have and then you can stay as long as you like after that, although once he takes you around there isn’t anything more to do really. Total stay was about 20 minutes for me.

Beautiful family run Sanctuary doing incredible work for sea turtles
I tend to be a bit apprehensive about animal experiences and whether they are ethical, but I did my research for this place and I was not disappointed at all. This is a family run Sanctuary which is doing absolutely incredible work for sea turtles. It is a small place backing onto the beach, where they take in injured sea turtles and help rehabilitate them and get them back out to the ocean. We were shown around by a lovely lady who told us all about how the turtles came to be there, some had suffered shark bites, others had suffered injuries from fishing nets or plastic. On the day I went, there was a turtle who had just arrived the night before with a missing fin from a shark bite who was now receiving treatment and care. They also produce their own turtle hatchlings which you can release out to sea for a small fee. This was such a highlight of the whole experience. Can't recommend this place enough, it is well worth going to visit to learn about the turtles and to support the amazing work the family are doing.

    Excellent
Very well taken care of turtles. Aunty Nisha has taken good care of turtles. Unfortunately, some tourist came (India) and argued that the prices are high to see the turtles. The price for the foreigners were 2000Rs or USD 8. We have to understand that this a rescue centre for turtles where they have to take care of Food and Medicines. A kind note to everyone to consider the fact that they have devoted their life to rescuing and taking care of these turtles and therefore, please don’t scold or put them down.

A hatchery that releases turtles back into the ocean
Nilanga was very knowledgeable about the turtles and passionate in his efforts to rehabilitate them. He explained everything thoroughly and allowed us to pick up the baby turtles. This is a no-frills hatchery maintained by locals who are working on behalf of the turtles. Seeing these animals up close was a special experience, well worth 2000 LKR.

    Polecam !

A lovely little hatchery and rehabilitation center
We had a wonderful informative time at the turtle hatchery. It is quite small with basic facilities, but they do a great job with what they have. We were given a brief tour by a friendly lady who told us about the turtles they have on the island, their life cycle, and the work of the center. She showed us the turtles at different stages and conditions, explaining about them and when they were planning to be released (if they could be). The work they do is funded by entry fees and donations, and we were more than happy to support. A wonderful experience we would recommend.

    A must-visit!
Very kind owners, I arrived here for in search of turtle information for my university project. They were so helpful and attentive. They have many species to observe, including a Kemp Ridley Turtle all the way from North America! I even offered to pay a tip for their help but they refused. A must-visit and only 5 minute tuktuk from Galle. Would highly recommend.

    Amazing work!
Amazing work! The sea turtles are rescued who might be in danger or who might have been injured. We went here with our teenage kids who are very passionate about animals. So it was truly amazing to see the work they do here. So please support them.

We visited with our two children both under 10. This place was wonderful we listened to why the turtles are there, some injured from getting caught in fishing nets and lost their fins or eyes, others are being treated back to full health and will be released back into the wild. The baby turtles are rescued off the beach when they hatch as survival rate is low. Our children loved it. It was 2000 Sri Lankan rupees per adult and child over 8. Children under 8 1000 rupees.

Supporting businesses that protect wildlife is very important. The kids really enjoyed releasing some baby turtles into the sea. There are turtles that have been injured with fishing hooks and turtles that have swallowed plastic bags. They have removed those and the turtles are nearly strong enough to be released back into the ocean.
There is no dark undercurrent, the cover charge is roughly £5 which I think is a reasonable fee to help continue this good work. It’s only slightly more than the price of a coffee in the UK.

Very nice stop to see some turtles that all have their own story. The guide was very good and gave a good tour that took maybe 30 minutes. You will learn about the different sea turtles and how to separate them from each other. You will also be able to hold small baby turtles and see their hatchery. The kids really loved that.

Absolutely a must do and see when in Galle so good to see that these very wonderful creatures are given lots of care and respect that they deserve
An educational experience and obviously all well looked after
And to be able to release a little one was a very special lifelong moment for me
And yes, there is an entrance fee and a little amount to release a baby, but in my opinion, it was absolutely worth it
Please go they need our support to enable continuing care
