Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you time your visit well, the end of call to prayers is concluded with a beautiful vocal, which is audible from the street. The melody is haunting & really quite moving.

It was attractive from outside and I had the desire to enter, pray, and have a look for interior architecture as it is interesting from outside, but I couldn't leave the group, and I was wearing swim short.

A very big white building next to the light house is the mosque. It very specious from inside and high wooden ceilings with many fans hanging. In the front is steps where the speaker call for the pray. On Friday the mosque is very crowded during the noon prayer.

Strolling by Galle's fantastic ramparts, your eyes will be caught by this impressive white building: the famous Meeran Jumma Masjid, or simply the Meera Mosque. It doesn't look like a mosque at all! It could be easily a Christian church, except from certain muslim details in its façade. The mosque was completed in 1904, in Portuguese or Dutch style. As a Brazilian, I would easily consider it Portuguese, since it resembles so much many churches built by the Portuguese in Brazil. Try to visit its interior, but women are not allowed inside the mosque. Enjoy!

The building is in the style of a church,it was built during the Dutch Period ,but has been changed to become a working mosque! We were staying close by so could see worshippers rushing to prayers .It is a very imposing building near to the ramparts so well worth a look.

Starting off, the architecture of this place is just breath taking. It has the effect of a church in certain aspects. But overall, it's a lovely place to be in especially during early morning prayers.

Amazing! Just Amazing!

This is a landmark on the walk around the ramparts in Galle. Situated near the lighthouse it is best viewed near sunset when it is cooler. The building was originally a dutch church so the architecture is interesting. You can only view from the outside.

In the Portugese period a Mosque was not allowed in Galle. The Meera Mosque was built by the Muslims during the Dutch period and completed in 1904. Women are not permitted in, but the best view of the Mosque is from the ramparts near the lighthouse. Just after sun rise the sun hits the mosque and its silver/ golden in colour.

This mosque is painted in white near the southern part of the fort of Galle. From the looks you will not say that this is a Mosque probably more to a Christian church.
