A Taiwan trip without the Taroko Gorge would miss a stunning highlight. Take time for the trip there is a lot to see. There are some trails that are worth the extra time.

Rented a bike from a little shop next to the station. Best way to zip around the gorge and take in the amazing views. So many walks and stunning scenery. Extended our stay here to three days so we could cover the different areas. Bring your own food to make a real day of it 😀

its better to hire a private tour/ cab+tour guide since the point of interest located far from each other. there's a shuttle bus but it won't stop at all the main places. and you need to plan well if you have intention of hiking some of the trails

My friend and I spent a lot of time in Taipei, but if want to experience a true gem of Taiwan, go to Taroko National Park and the Taroko Gorge. We took a 2-hour train early in the morning from Taipei, and then the same duration back in the evening. We visited in February of 2017, and the weather was... More

We took a taroko gorge day tour from Taipei. It included a stop at the ocean too along with lunch. Massive gorge where marble is extracted from. Huge cliffs and rock walls. Boulders were huge in the river running through the gorge. We wore hard hats here for safety. Also, there is a suspension bridge and a temple along the... More

Taroko was amazing; however, the main trail which I had planned to hike, the "old road," was closed via SERIOUS rock slide damage. I still recommend going, but aim to do alternative hikes

The highlight of our trip to Taiwan. Be sure to hire a private driver to avoid impersonal tour buses. This is a MUST when in Taiwan!

Taroko gorge is magnificent & gorgeous. Love the caves & some rock features (e.g Indian chiefs, frog) created by the weather across time. The hikes were also manageable at Shakadang trail, Swallow Grotto trail & Baiyang Waterfall Trail. We have a Great time exploring Taroko gorge from about 10am to evening 4pm+. We engaged Mr Tonny Teng as our driver... More
