The lake and surrounding mountains are a pleasant stop, but the paddleboat was disappointing. The boat we were given was uncomfortable and it wasn't possible to stretch your legs while paddling. One person with us was so tall he couldn't even help paddle! If you hire a peddle boat make sure you can fit into it first! The water show... More

far bank has some pretty forest but likely you will be visiting on a tour with main purpose to see the tacky contrived sculptures and/or join the armada of peddle boat swans that the Chinese tourists are good with

You can enjoy spectacular mountains around you when you ride a pedal-powered boat on this lake. Also, the boat swaying gently in the breeze so it is easy to have a sleepy and relieved moment.

Our second activity for day 2 after visiting a temple that was influenced by Japanese Buddhism. Weather was good, cool 21c. The 9 of us divided ourselves in 3 paddle boats seating 2, 3 and 4. The vendor explained the Dos and don'ts and advised that Cycling fast does not help. Slow and steady rhythm is better. As expected the... More

part of our little trip to Hualian. Our driver took us to this place to a quick stroll. we ended up taking a small boat tour int he lake. Min group tour is 6 people ad 600NT. Boat ride is about 10~15 min. Boat driver did a fast ride at the end. Fun for kids.

The scenery is nice and the environment is relaxing and comfortable, but do not expect something extraordinary here. You can rent a bike near the visitor centre bus stop to go for a round-lake ride for less than an hour. There are also some trails at the other side of the lake and plenty of spaces for people to sit... More

It is a beautiful lake with nice scenery around. We were here when it was fully rainy thats why there was snake like waterfalls around the mountains. That looks so amazing to watch. Otherwise this lake will take only 20 min to rome around but views makes it beautiful.

In the rugged mountains in the hinterland behind Hualien sits a tranquil setting called Liyu Lake (or Carp Lake in English). With magnificent walking trails around the lake, plenty of food stalls or take a packed picnic lunch and sit on the shore, it is a prefect setting to relax and admire the hill around the lake, the birdlife, or... No a big lake. If you rent a bike, it takes about 15 to 20 minutes to circle around. I wouldn't spend my time here if I'm on tight schedule. Like other reviewer said "nothing special" here. Warning for black mosquitoes!! Better have insert repellent with you. I leaned it hard way.
