Dear Henry,

A heartfelt thank you for you and your organization Kilimanjaro Experts. We’ve had the experience of a lifetime. I felt really privileged to being able to do this trip with my children, future daughter in law and my Australian friends. Organization and logistics were impeccable and quite unbelievable really.
All people in the group were very friendly and helpful. We were especially impressed by the way Kefas guided us through the whole experience. Mainly thanks to him we all managed to reach the summit. He is a doctor, psychologist, mental coach and guide all in one. Can you give him a big thank you from all of us?
We will definitely recommend Kilimanjaro Experts to any of our friends considering to undertake this very special adventure.

Warm regards, Jeroen Theunissen

Every member of our Kilimanjaro Expert team was amazing. Given neither my sister or I had previously camped, the team made the experience as comfortable as possible. Our guides Robert and Privatus are excellent. Great company and most importantly we always felt safe. Thoroughly enjoyed the Kilimanjaro trek. As much as it was nice to get back and have a long hot overdue shower - we very much missed not being with the team and on mountain A real testament to the great trip we had with Kilimanjaro Experts. Precious memories.

What a great experience I had with Kilimanjaro Experts. Pre-departure, Henry or David were always very prompt in answering any questions. Everything on our trip seemed to go smoothly. We completed the alternative Lemosho trek with Kassim as head guide and everyone on the trek was so professional, friendly & helpful. Didn't have the best of weather for summit day but all our group completed the climb. Ended our trip with a 1 day safari in Tarangire which was a great bonus. Hope to be back with KE in future to see more of this beautiful country.

When I decided to climb Kilimanjaro I started to look through different websites and for me KE stood out immediately as there was an answer to all of my questions and it felt like they really know what they were talking about!!
I got in touch with Henry Stedman who was very helpful and informative explaining to me various options available, pros and cons etc.
I would recommend reading Henry’s book which is full of very interesting facts and details about the country and mountain itself, information for preparation, climbing etc etc.
I booked 8 days climb and 4 days safari with KE, paid them and I didn’t have to worry about ANYTHING as they took care of everything.
I felt extremely safe and looked after on the mountain, well fed, well informed, had a lot of fun and laughter and made friends with guides and group members.
My safari guide Reggie Jnr was very polite, knowledgeable about all the animals and birds and was a great animal spotter.
I would definitely recommend this Company to anyone interested in climbing Kilimanjaro or doing safari afterwards

My wife and I trekked the 8 day alternative Lemosho trek with KE. We had a wonderful experience. Henry was very patient with responding to questions via email and organized our hotels in Arusha before and after the trek. Joshua was great at organizing last minute changes on the ground, and our guides and assistant guides and cook and porter were all fantastic. Dickson (guide) and Haruna (assistant guide) were fantastic, and the entire team was so supportive even when faced with bad weather. Plus, we were able to go one day faster than scheduled and do the route in 7 days, which let us have enough time to make an early flight for the next destination.

Highly recommend KE, and strongly recommend taking one of the longer routes to ensure you have acclimatization time.

In January 2024 we did the 8 day Alternative Lemosho Route with the Kilimanjaro Experts and followed this with a five-day safari in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. We are a family of four and were very pleased with the organisation, transparency and helpfulness of KE throughout the experience. Climbing Kilimanjaro is hard and this was not helped by the poor weather we had on our trip, but with the encouragement and expert pace setting from our wonderful guides Freddy and Frank we made it! We always felt that we were in safe hands with Freddy being such a professional organiser and Frank being so kind and caring; they made a great team along with the chef and all the porters. We are very grateful to them all for getting us safely up and down the mountain.

The safari was equally well organised and our guide Beno was very friendly, experienced and knowledgeable as well as being an excellent animal spotter and a very impressive driver. Many other vehicles were getting stuck in the mud or had flat tyres but he navigated us expertly through some really difficult terrain.

Any concerns that arose during our holiday were quickly and competently resolved by KE and we have no hesitation in recommending them if you are thinking of climbing the highest mountain in Africa.

Went on the 7 days alternative Lemosho route. The entire experience was absolutely amazing, the route is beautiful with all sorts of scenery changes as you make your way to the top. Kilimanjaro Experts made it even more special with a flawless organization of the trip, very detailed and very clear. It was really easy to organize the trip. On site the crew that was responsible for our trek was simply perfect. They were extremely prepared and competent, very attentive to details and most of all on our safety and good health as we advanced to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro. I can say that they played a big role on achieving our ascent to the top!
I highly recommend Kilimanjaro Experts to anyone seeking quality of service, thouroughness and an overall incredible experience

When we initially started researching Kilimanjaro treks one of the first things I did was purchase Henry Stedman’s Kilimanjaro guide book. It is the go to book for all things Kilimanjaro and helped narrow down what to look for in a company and how to choose what route to do. It wasn’t long before I realised Henry’s company, Kilimanjaro Experts, was the one for us. Right from the start, I was filled with confidence that this company knows exactly what they are doing, have both client and crew safety at the forefront and offered us the best chance of a successful summit. Henry was excellent with providing detailed information about the whole process and answering any questions so we knew exactly what to expect at each stage. The company arranged transfers to/from the airport and accommodation before/after the trek which all worked perfectly.
Once in Tanzania, we met with our guide, Shabani, and assistant guide, Sigie, who briefed us on the trek and performed the kit check. We met the rest of the team the following day and were very impressed with how hard they all worked to look after us and make our trek a success. They went above and beyond on several occasions, including an amazing job repairing walking boots for one member of our party and drying our gloves after a particularly wet day of trekking.
Summit night itself was a challenge but Shabani kept an eye on us and was able to judge when to adjust the plan. We were delighted that we all made it to the summit and leave Tanzania with a sense of pride and memories to last a lifetime. Thank you to all at Kilimanjaro Experts - highly recommend using this company if you are planning to trek up Kilimanjaro!

My two friends and I recently embarked on a 7-day Machame trek in late December. We were looking for a challenge so we booked an Ironman trek, where we would carry everything we needed on the mountain including food, a sleep system, and a tent. Kilimanjaro Experts is one of the only companies we could find that even offers an Ironman or hybrid trek.

We talked with Henry Stedman over email for several months before our trip, and he also took the time to have one or two Zoom calls with us. He answered all of our questions (and trust me, we had a lot) and he helped us finalize the details of our trip. His experience and knowledge of the mountain was incredibly valuable.

The company facilitated airport transfers and they also booked our hotel for us. They also brought us to their office and to the store so we could choose exactly what food we wanted to bring (keep in mind that you wouldn't have to worry about the food on a regular trek). We booked a safari with them as well. Kilimanjaro Experts handled basically everything for us and it was nice to be able to just focus on the climb without worrying about logistics.

Our crew consisted of Boniface (head guide, Bony for short), Paul (assistant guide), and Gideon (porter). Technically it was a hybrid trek because Gideon carried fuel and a stove for us to cook with, and he also collected water for us at camp. The knowledge, enthusiasm, and professionalism of each crew member created a positive atmosphere throughout the expedition. They were not just guides; they were integral to the overall experience.

Unfortunately, my two friends had to descend on day three due to sickness. Paul went down with them but I was still able to continue trekking with Bony and Gideon. That night when we got to Baranco camp, I asked Bony if we could head straight to Barafu camp the next day. The seven day Machame trek includes a night at Karanga camp, but I wanted to finish in six days so I could get back to my friends sooner. They were happy to deviate from the planned schedule to fulfill my request. We summited together on Christmas day (pic included).

When we descended from the mountain on day six, I was reunited with my friends and we all went out to a celebratory lunch (included with the trek). My friends and I ended up deciding to change our flight to leave that same day, and they were once again able to change their plans for us. Bony found a shower for me on very short notice and then they drove us directly to the airport after lunch. We were also refunded for the safari we had booked.

Overall, we had an excellent experience with Kilimanjaro Experts. Everyone involved with the company went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience possible. We plan to return to Kilimanjaro one day because my friends never reached the summit, and we will definitely go with Kilimanjaro Experts again. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to climb Kilimanjaro, no matter what kind of trek you want to do. They are a member of KPAP and the guides also spoke highly of the company.

When I decided to go on a Kilimanjaro trek, I first read Henry Stedman’s book Kilimanjaro - the trekking guide to Africa’s highest mountain to get an idea how the treks were and to choose an agency to go with. My main concern in choosing an agency was how the porters were treated, having already seen how many agencies take advantage of the fact that porters are in need of money and thus accept work for low pay and poor working conditions (carrying heavier loads than legally allowed or not getting enough food or proper sleeping accommodation during a trek, for example).

I was quite impressed with Henry’s book and when I later found out that he had his own agency Kilimanjaro Experts (which was not listed in his book), my decision was made. I am enormously pleased to have gone with this agency. Kilimanjaro Experts is a member of KPAP, an organization that seeks to improve the working conditions of porters. Kilimanjaro Experts observes all the KPAP requirements and in addition pays the porters more than double than some other agencies. Furthermore, Kilimanjaro Experts gives scholarships to porters to complete qualifications to become guides (one of our guides had finished a year-long course supported by such a scholarship).

I was part of a group of ten; there were four guides, two cooks, and 30+ porters. The guides were outstanding with impressive organizational skills; they had the experience, knowledge and an infectious positive attitude that were projected with confidence, thereby eliminating any concerns. Before summit night, the head guide talked with everyone and dispelled any lingering fear that many of us felt. The crew was always in a good mood, clearly happy to be there, and free to interact with us, which many agencies frown upon. The organization of the trek proved to be beyond excellent. Anything we needed was provided for. We all could trek at our own pace, often in separate groups, but each accompanied by a guide. The food (vegan, vegetarian, non-vegetarian) was exceptional, abundant, and of varied cuisines. I intend to go on another Kilimanjaro trek and will definitely go with Kilimanjaro Experts again.
