- Holly B1 contributionA must do in Khao LakFrom ease of booking to being picked up, taken to the market and cooking it was all wonderful. Pui is very helpful, knowledgeable and speaks great English. At the market we looked at the dishes we could make, made our choices and then looked at all the ingredients in the market. Pui gave us a lesson on Thai ingredients whether we needed them for our dishes or not. I already know a little about Thai cooking and Asian ingredients and still learned a lot, and those who knew very little left with an abundance of new information. We tried ingredients and found out about how to choose the freshest items. If we had a question Pui was quick to answer and explain where you might use that ingredient. When it came to the cooking, we were driven back to Pui’s beautiful home where she has a great set up of an outdoor kitchen, it was a great experience just to cook there. We helped prepare the vegetables and meat and then began to cook our selected dishes. Pui was very helpful about how to cook and gave good instructions on sizes to cut, what order to cook in and even how best to stir some ingredients in the wok. When it came to tasting - wow! I’ve visited Thailand many times and can happily say this was some of the best food I’ve eaten here. Definitely worth it and would wholeheartedly recommend - don’t eat too much beforehand, all your hard work needs to be eaten! Thank you, Pui.Visited December 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 December 2022
- Julie DDerby, United Kingdom44 contributionsMaking Memories! OutstandingAbsolutely one of the best experiences ever! We’ve all had a wonderful day with Pui, from selecting our dishes, the bustling Thai food market choosing our ingredients and then a wonderful cooking class in a stunning setting. The dishes we cooked were all delicious and Pui catered wonderfully for our gluten free son. Tip top experience, Thank you Pui 🙏 🤩⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ we will be back! even our son of 13 years was engaged throughout 🤣 miracle 🪄which made it a lovely family day out.Visited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten 2 January 2023
- Julie W2 contributionsAn awesome experienceI loved visiting the market for the ingredients and learning about the produce before returning to Pui’s beautiful home and garden to prepare and cook them. It was a wonderful experience and learning with Pui was very informative and enjoyable. Would highly recommend this course for anyone who enjoys cooking and eating delicious Thai food.Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 January 2023
- Catherine MGlasgow, United Kingdom72 contributionsGreat experienceHad never done a cooking class before & completely loved the whole experience. Picked up from hotel & met Pui at the local fresh market, 6 of us on the class & we choose 9 dishes between us to cook. Pui worked out the shopping list & gave us a comprehensive tour of the market explaining all the different ingredients & letting us taste some Thai breakfast delights. Once back at Pui's kitchen we loved the teamwork & clear instructions which meant we had a huge lunch feast of all the finished dishes. It was great to get photos & all the recipes sent on. Highly recommended.Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 January 2023
- MagnumbazzerBurgess Hill, United Kingdom270 contributionsReally good value, authentic (vegetarian) Thai cooking classIf possible, we like to take a local cookery class when we're on holiday. As veggies, this can sometimes be difficult but Pui adapted everything for us without any problem at all. The class starts with an informative trip to the local market before getting stuck into the actual cooking in Pui's lovely outdoor, covered kitchen. Between two couples we cooked up 8 amazing dishes which we shared out between us. There's no way you can eat all the food, so it's good to know that the leftovers get passed on to local people who could do with a bit of help. The class was really well run, had a homely feel to it and the food was just amazing. The recipes are forwarded to you afterwards so we've already had a go at them. Obviously the spices etc are nowhere near as fresh at home, but it still tastes really good! The best day of our holiday without doubt :)Visited February 2023Written 19 February 2023
- Rob SLondon, United Kingdom39 contributionsLocal but professional flavourHaving been on the class today I have to say that it probably exceeded our expectations and there isn't anything I could really fault. A great local and professional class from Pui who's friendly and experienced, and from driving ghe pick-up taxi, knowledge of the market ingredients, choice of menus (3 per couple) and then the very clean kitchen set up in a perfect outdoor shaded location, ticked all the boxes **.7 The only one negative about the whole experience was not discovering her directly having booked via Tui (for peace of mind in choosing a reputable class) but as I now for a hefty mark-up just for arranging the booking. So if you're reading this and wondering will it be up to standard - yes have no fears, book it and well worth the money.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 March 2023
- Palmu71 contributionsWell organized and social cooking classIf you are looking for relaxed and social cooking experience, this is it. Everything was perfectly organized. We got picked up from the hotel by Pui and the next stop was a market place in Khao Lak where we spent a good hour buying stuff we needed and seeing what was available. It was warm, but nice. Then at Pui's kitchen we prepared our dishes. As guests we did maybe 25% of the work, so it wasn't cooking all the way, but still good experience. We were priviledged to have good and chatty group. Then - we ate what we had cooked around a big table, all delicious. You can buy drinks at the market and also extra drinks like beer is available at Pui's for fair price. Clean toilet. Very cosy place altogether and Pui is a good host. We felt we got good good experience and good value for money.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 April 2023
- Mitch GBristol, United Kingdom20 contributionsHighly recommend Pui's Cooking ClassFantastic experience with Pui. She picked us up promptly from the hotel, we were very fortunate to have a private one to one lesson with her. First we arrived at the local fresh fruit and meat market where she explained clearly about the different herbs and spices in Thai cooking including the 4 different Thai Basil and their aromas. We got given some refreshments and sweets to try before heading to Pui's home stay and outdoor kitchen area. It was very clean and peaceful. An idyllic garden to be cooking outdoors in. We prepped some ingredients while Pui's assistants also helped as we were cooking 4 dishes. Overall, we highly recommend Pui's cooking class and would definitely look to stay in one of the bungalows if we returned to Khao Lak. Book with her directly on WhatsApp, she responds promptly and accepts cash or card payment.Visited May 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 May 2023

- Andy PUnited Kingdom65 contributionsPerfect cookery courseBrilliant fun - couldn’t recommend this enough - was picked up by Pui from our hotel and taken to the morning market, each couple choose 3 dishes to cook and she quickly worked out the ingredients needed. We then toured the market with her buying up everything we needed together with detailed explanations of what everything does and its use. From here it was back to her ‘brand new’ well laid out kitchen. First we were shown how to make crab cakes and vegetable spring rolls before prepping our own dishes. From here we each took our own cooking station and cooked our main dishes. I am the first to confess that I do almost no cooking but cooked an ‘excellent prawn red curry and a pad Thai, my my wife also made the best prawns in tamarind I have tasted. One all was cooked we had starters and the 11 dishes ‘our group’ had cooked to eat and try. This proved to be one of the best Thai dishes of the holiday. Soft drinks were available free of charge with beer available for ‘peanuts’ afterwards we purchased one of our aprons (actually it was a brand new one) as a keepsake. The morning was perfect in every respect!Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 November 2023

Pui was the perfect host, and the whole experience was beyond expectations from shopping the local market and learning about local produce to preparing, cooking, and then feasting on delicious dishes that Pui made sure would be totally authentic and super tasty. All of this in the beautiful atmosphere she has created at her home.

Pui is amazing! So knowledgeable, well-organized, and flexible! We really enjoyed walking through the market and learning about the various ingredients and how they are incorporated into different dishes. Pui's knowledge is top notch! Then - we got to cook! She oversaw the efficient cooking of 10 (TEN!) dishes - all of which were absolutely delicious and gave us a nice range of cuisine. Highly recommend Pui as a teacher!
Also the environment is lovely - such a gorgeous garden and kitchen (even on a rainy day)!

If you are looking for a way to take your holiday to the next level then join Pui for her cooking course. Her passion for Thai cuisine is apparent from the moment she walks you through the market. With extensive knowledge and great enthusiasm for the ingredients she guides you through the colourful array of produce on offer. A quick hydration stop at one of the stalls accompanied by sweet treats and we are off in the back of her truck to an idyllic garden kitchen. Each couple chooses three dishes with consideration given for any food preferences or allergies you may have. Pui then entices you into her world of Thai cooking. What a marvelous way to experience the authentic Thai dishes. At the end of the preparation and cooking, all with the backdrop of gentle water features, tropical birdsong and lush gardens we all present our dishes for the table. Everyone is encouraged to try each others dishes and the conversation and company are the icing on the cake! The remaining food is offered to the local family and children's community home and we leave sated from the food and the experience Pui has given us. Do not miss this experience during your stay in Khaolak.... you will regret it!
