Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Without doubt, the interior of the main Wat is interesting, with the Jade Buddha and surrounding iridescent jade tiles being worth the visit alone. There's also a couple more buildings to visit, one another Wat and the other displaying traditional art and the complex certainly wasn't too busy or crowded.
All interesting, too a point, but you can soon reach temple overload.

The temple where the Emerald Buddha was discovered. The temple grounds are open daily from 7 am until 6 pm. Admission is free, although donations for the upkeep of the temple are highly appreciated. The museum opens daily from 9 am until 5 pm. Tum take us to see this one and she didn’t stop to explain all the details. Today, the Wat Phra Kaew temple in Chiang Rai holds a copy of the original Phra Kaew Morakot image. The copy that is very close to the original was made in honor of the 90th birthday of Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother. This replica also named Phra Kaew Morakot carved from jade in China was installed in the temple’s ubosot in 1991. It is a little smaller than the original, which is about 45 centimeters tall. Don’t for get donation. Tum she’s angle student for take care university she do the guide.

Came here on the free city tram tour. The buddha is made of emerald. It's pretty. If you love temples, I'm sure you'd enjoy this place. Free entry.

Most people skip Chaing Rai, even though the most beautiful smaller temples in Thailand are there. They are not small, but they are not massive like some of the ones in Bangkok and Chaing Mai. This temple has the beautiful Emerald Buddha and if you are in Chaing Rai, it is worth the visit.

Must see temple when in Chiang Rai. Bring a camera. Respect temple dress code. Take some time to walk around and truly admire the monastery.

Pretty gardens with orchids surrounding the temples. My toddler was made very welcome so do not worry about going with children. There were monks relaxing in the peaceful gardens, a few different temples and the story of the emerald buddha to see and learn about.
There is no entry fee also but you can donate inside the temples.
Top tip - there are so many turtles to see on both sides before you enter the temples of the emerald buddha.

I love the history of the jade Buddha being stolen by Laos then retrieved and hidden in a pagoda to be forgotten until a lightning strike exposes it once again. It eventually was moved to Bangkok to be displayed and a replica is now in its place. The jade for the replica is from Canada and me being Canadian gives a sense of pride that there is a piece of Canada in this story.

One of many temples in Northern Thailand. This one is quite ornate and very fancy. Worth a walk through. Remove shoes before entering

Classic, what can you say. Remember to wear pants and a t-shirt with sleeves. 200 baht for audio guide was great value too (given the ticket is 500)
