Whilst it is very gold and shiny, it is situated in the middle of a fairly busy crossroads and surrounded by not much. Pretty ugly streets and nothing else around it, not even shops. Not worth a special visit.

Just another clock tower with a musical cyme hourly in the heart of Chiang Rai city. Also in the middle of a roundabouts. Just enjoy a short light and sound show hourly. We visited day and night to see clearly.

Chiang Rai seems to have something with odd and eccentric looking buildings. This rather perch clock looks like something Antoni Gaudi could have designed.

It is worth driving past it. I went in the day time so maybe there is more to see at night. But the whole area seemed dead - the life of the town is further down the one road.

Designed by Thai artist Chalermchai Khositpipat, the tower is unusual and actually pretty when the lighting changes each hour from 7 pm to 9pm. But, it is the ultimate in kitsch. Adorned with all sorts of embellishments and painted in gold, you can't miss it....More
