Great viewing point to see both Laos and Myanmar. However, all the glittzy clutter that has sprung up around for tourists is disappointing. Less is more!

We passed Sop Ruak on a scootertrip through the golden triangle area. It is a nice place to do a boat tour and see the river.

I don't know what I expected here but it's just a viewing spot with views of a muddy river. Rated excellent because there's nothing wrong with the place; just manage your expectations.

Nice views of the Mekong, colourful history , some good sesame oil and natural food stores and a reasonable museum makes this a good detour in Chiang Rai. I would not spend too much time here

Basically a commercial exploit to get you to buy overpriced souvenirs, there are better views like Pu Chee Far
