A very interesting spot to visit- similar to the Four Corners in the US. However, I would only bother coming here if you are coming to the area for something else. My group drove literally 1.5 hours just to come here for 20 minutes, then drive back another 1.5 hours and it was not worth it. I would visit an... More

It is not a strenuous outing, you can get there by car, climb a few steps onto a platform and you get an amazing view of the Golden Triangle. You are standing on the Thai side with vies to Laos and Myanmar, you appreciate the importance of this area for legal and illegal trade, notably opium. It's worh a visit.

The view is nice and the area is pleasant, but obviously there is no colored line telling you what country is which... we were on a day tour with a private guide (Mekhong Travel Agency of Chiang Rai) and he told us a lot of things.

This place has an amazing view that seems unreal over the Mekong river and the border triangle between Thailand, Mynmar and Laos.

If you are already in the Chiang Rai area doing some sight seeing it can be of interest to visit the Golden Triangle and see where Laos/Myanmar and Thailand meet over the river. There is some history with a no mans island where Opium trades used to be made, the island is now part of Laos. You can also see... More

Advise would be to arrive end of the morning in Sop Ruak and enjoy the view of the Mekong. There are some boat trips to Myanmar ( 1 000 b. / person) or to Laos ( 1 400 b / person). But for this, you need to be back to Thailand before 6.00 pm.

The feeling of being on three borders at once is exceptional, but the view itself is quite dissapointing - only the casinos stand out. Would not recommend without a guide.

This is place is interesting as you get to see 3 country borders from one stop. There is a boat ride as well which you can take...This boat will take you to the Laos border where there is a small local market set up which you can explore. But to be honest there was nothing spectacular about the market.Plus the heat... Used to be the most notorious Golden Triangle that no one dare to enter especially the No-Man Land where all drug transaction, rival fights, killings etc took place. A place where violence is the law. The boat ride and the introduction by the guide brought me back to my History classes days where we read it on our textbooks. It is... More
