Aside from the food stalls, most of the shops/stalls sell clothing and shoes, although there’s also some selling everyday items and toys. I really came for the food. The place is a true foodie heaven. In my humble opinion, the food stalls here are superior to the ones in Bangkok and the prices are much lower too. I ate here for 3 nights, so even a vegetarian will have no problem finding suitable food. A vegan will have problems though.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 8 April 2024
- Lesley H3 contributionslovely small market, delicious foodSuperb food, mostly cooked for you whilst you watch. I loved the ambiance of the place and the very chilled vibes. only 1 downside, but its only my opinion is the amount of sugar they put into the drinks. I always say no sugar. I had the best fried chicken I have ever tasted next to the bus station, it was blooming delicious, just as well I only found it on the last night.Visited July 2024Travelled soloWritten 21 July 2024
- Dieneke DKampen, The Netherlands58 contributionsGreat experience not spoiled by too many touristsGreat market. Great food. Clear (tranparent) and low prices and no pushy sellers. A lot of local visitors. Not too many tourists (yet). We tried local food that we didn't try before as you can buy them in small amounts. If you don't like it, you don't have to throw away a whole plate with food. You should definitely go there when staying in Kanchanaburi.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 29 July 2024

Open 6 nights per week it is a lively market by the railway station. Nice old steam train to see there. Good Thai food available, like fresh green papaya salad, and lots of clothing and other stalls. Also second hand clothes. Close to the backpacker places.

This is one of the best and most real night markets i have been to in Thailand. Not every stall is the same same. Good cheap foods. Fun clothing shopping. Electronics that are legit. And there were almost no tourists. Just locals out having a fun time. I greatly enjoyed this market. Felt like i was a part of the real community experience.

Yes, there is lots of local street food, but this is available all over town. The market is full of cheap tat from China, very little made in Thailand. If you want imitation watches, sunglasses, shoes and poor quality clothing this is the place for you. Save the walk, stay in the bar !!

The Night Market is located next to the Railway Station. To find it , walk towards the don-rak War Cemetary so as you approach the Cems on your left. About 150 meters before there is a right hand bend in the road. As you walk round the bend there is 2 left hand turns you must take the 2nd left.you will see the market opposite at the end of that road. Now be careful the road across is often very busy so cross carefully. The Night Market has a variety of Street food, Beauty products, Clothes, Dvd and electronics equipment. I have eaten everything they have to offer and never been sick, touch wood. The one thing i would avoid however is watches iv'e bought 3 before and none of them have lasted a week, Lighters are another thing that tend to have a short life span as well. You can bargin with the local people for better prices. But sometimes it's like trying to buy a gourd in life of brian. All the same it's a great way to do something different in Kanchanaburi for an evening, So Recommended to all

From 5:30 to sometime after 10pm, the area around and near the Bus Terminal is filled with food vendors! From Sushi to Soy milk with egg, corn, and 'candies' to Oysters, mussels, squid, many types of Fish, to Sweet Yam Pancakes, to simple Vegetable Fried Rice, to the four basic Curries, to gelled sweets. The choices go on and on!
My personal FANTASTIC find is with a vendor of sweets. Among the cookies, 'gelled' sweet confections, and tamarinds I found packages of four morsels of truffle-shaped chocolate cake covered with Dark Chocolate, for a mere 20Baht! In the States these dark-choco-wonders would easily go for 1200Baht! These definitely rival Godiva's truffles!
During this time of Christmas-to-New-Years, the stands also include Fireworks, myriads of pre-packaged gifts of cookies, tamarinds, and candies, plastic-bagged stuffed animals (mostly teddy bears), and packaged fruit selections.
Along two streets in particular are the flower vendors-- fresh cut, plants, and the oft-seen dangling flower chains used for offerings.
There are also many 'morning vendors', tho perhaps due to the proximity of the Bus Terminal. At this time of day, my favorite is a bag of fried banana slices, with 1 or 2 slices of fried sweet potato stuck in.
Each night I walk among the vendors and many slow-moving cars (and fast-driving motorbikes!), visiting my favorites, trying out something new.

Great place for fresh fruit and Thai street food. Fried chicken, Isaan (sticky) rice with coconut, papaya salad all favourites.
Cheap 'T' shirts (mis-spelt/ambiguous English), leather belts.
1 to call SIM cards, top-up cards and electrical accessories.
Stall-holders arrive to set-up from 17:00 onwards.

What nights are you open and what times? How can you rent a space to sell your own stuff?
Written 22 February 2015
the market opens everyday from 5.oo pm till 2.00am. and you can also find some food from 5.00 am to 8.00 am. for breakfast too. It's not easy to rent some space for foreigners. you have to ask the municipal of Muang, Kanchanaburi. (next to Kanchananukoah school) As I've known, the rent cost is expensive. But you can find a new open market opposite this night market for free only it opens every Saturday night.
