Banzaan is a traditional wet market in the heart of Patong. Locals buy fresh fruit and vegetables as well as live seafood and fresh butchered meats. Tourists can buy fresh seafood and take it upstairs to the food court to have it cooked (see my review of the Banzaan food plaza). We have been here several times over the years and it is sad to see the toll that has been taken on the local economy by COVID. About 60% of the stalls are occupied and there is a general sense of depression. Things are so bad with low tourism that it is a real fight for business. We will visit again and hopefully tourist numbers return now that most COVID restrictions are being lifted around the world. Absolutely worth the visit to buy fresh seafood and take it upstairs to be cooked

Upper floor was closed and the smell on first floor was unbearable! Spell of pee that hasn’t been washed for years mixed with dead fish.
What a waste of time! Really don’t understand the reviews here!

Went with family. Really enjoyed the marked. A lot of people. Tried a lot of food - some good, some not so much. A lot of fresh fruit and fish inside.

My husband and I have visited this market a few times on our frequent trips to Phuket. We especially love the barbecue and dessert stalls by the side, especially the coconut ice cream! We had eaten at the same seafood stall right towards the end of the line each time. This is particularly so because they make a mean chilli stir fry as we love spicy food. I would say the price for seafood is very reasonable and most importantly, the seafood is fresh and deliciously cooked.

Loved this place. It’s open every night. We came here every night for dinner. Fresh seafood m. You can bargain with them. They then cook it for you. It was so cheap we had 6 seafood dishes plus drinks for $60nzd. There is a drinks cart opposite which does the best Mai Tai drinks for cheap.

I went here the first day i got to Phuket. I was so excited. It was so crowded that it’s even hard to walk. Beside seafood, it also got many Thai snack and food stalls. They basically sell almost the same things as any other night markets. I didn’t find this place so special or whatsoever. It’s also not that much to see. I bought a 50baht mango sticky rice. It tasted not good at all. The rice was so dry.

Banzaan market is situated close to Jungceylon mall. It is open from 9am to 9pm daily. The bottom floor hosts a range of fresh seafood, fruit, vegetables, chicken and other meat. You are able to buy the seafood or meat of your choice for cash. Thereafter you take it to the first floor where you load a card with money. You can then take the seafood or meat to a kiosk of your choice and have them cook it to your liking. We bought a 1kg of prawns and octopus for around R200 and then had it cooked up for R150. We had savory seafood in pineapple with cashews, garlic butter prawns and seafood curried rice. It was delicious and way too much food for two people. A definite "must do" when in Patong. Would definitely do it again and highly recommended. Please note that the market at the bottom can be smelly.

We happened to stay closeby so we visited the place for dinner. There are a lot of stalls so look a bit around before settling on a place. All of them have fresh seafood on display, we ordered tiger prawns which were very large! Vendors are also open to negotiate prices so haggle away!

We didn’t realised that we walked right into the Banzaan Market on the Sunday evening. It was a lovely surprise in the evening stroll looking for a place to eat.
Look no further, this market has so many food stand and street, seafood stalls and restaurants, there was no need to go elsewhere.
For seafood lovers, this market offered many different types of seafood and Thai food.
The market is a great introduction to new visitors to Thailand because it offered many different choices.
We were dizzy with the food stores and dodging diners.
You can get critters here which surprised me, and not for the faint hearted.
The market opened till late and it was buzzing with tourists and locals, which meant that the food on sales must be good!
