It’s a 2 hour (at most) attraction
Is this worth going? - maybe
Do you have a couple of hours to loose?
Have you seen the theme they have on and does it interest you?
Does the entry price sounds like a good deal for maye an hour?
If the answer for all of these is yes, then by all means, go!
The sculptures are really amazing!
However, it’s an open air museum, so depending on the time/day, it maybe very hot, there’s no shade
And it’s sand sculptures, so, some of them maybe a bit worse than other, rain and wind will make them degrade, that’s sand
But the attention to detail is indeed impressive
Just don t expect this to be the highlight of your trip, just a nice thing you did on your trip
(It has clean toilets and free wi-fi)

If you get the bus to Lara beach, then it will drop you off at one end of the beach. Keep going down the road and about 2 miles down is Sandland. It has a collection of huge sand sculptures which are apparently themed for different things at different times. When I went the theme was "empires" and it had sculptures of key figures from different historical empires, as well as a couple of funny ones (for example, a huge spaceship and planets sculpture representing the future galactic empire).
If you go at night they light up the sculptures with differently coloured lights. It's hard to describe the effect this has but it really adds to it. The lights don't move but the shadows created add another layer of magic over an already impressive attraction. Lots of different sculptors contribute, and yes some are better than others, but the standard all around is very high. I would note that it is art, not history. There are some vague historical details written on signs by each of the sculptures (note: only in Turkish, Russian and German for some reason, no English) which are factual, but the sculptures themselves aren't really very accurate depictions of things.
If you have a car, I would drive to this, as the bus stops quite a way away. If you don't, I'd take the bus to Lara beach and then try and hitch a lift to Sandland. Easier on the way back than there as nobody local seems to be aware of this place. It's not an unpleasant walk though. The eateries dotted along the path are inexplicably more expensive than anywhere else we went, but you get a reasonable view of the sea the whole way.
Definitely check this out though. I can't imagine anyone not liking it.

A great place to admire beautiful sand sculptures.
From Ataturk’s, right by the entrance, and to the mystical creatures, all are capturing the eyes and are sending you in a childhood world.
We visited the Sandland at 11:00 am and we were lucky enough ti be alone inside for half an hour. At busy hours, it might take a little more than one hour to enjoy and admire every single sculpture.
Entrance ticket is cheap, the museum itself worths to be visited.

They are mostly fake. We visited and the lady in the kiosk advised us they'd been damaged from storms... tho still charged us full price. There was a pyramid that had been damaged and the 'lookalike' sand was plaster on wood. Total waste of time and money. Please don't bother, 10 minutes to see a few fake sand sculptures... scam.

Similar to the review below, most of the sculptures have been ruined but we did manage to have a laugh about it and it was exciting to see and to just take in how much effort it must’ve taken the individuals who made these sculptures. It’s a shame that the storm had ruined most of them. We were told that there had been a storm so some of the sculptures have been damaged. The woman asked for 20tl we asked if this could be lowered, we ended up paying 10tl each. If you do decided to visit see if you can get the price down and do be aware that what you see in the photos from previous posters is not what it looks like now. It’s a bit of a shame that someone’s hard work has been ruined you would think there would be some protection over it for events like bad weather. Nonetheless we spent less than an hour here, if I had known most of the sculptures were ruined beforehand I wouldn’t have bothered coming.

I have attached some photos below so you guys can get an idea of what it looks like now.

Really not worth it at all.
The website says, largest in the world and 6 miles long which is not true.
None of the sculptures were more than 3m tall and you could view all of them in one glance as you enter
Most of them were in disrepair.
I would skip it

Dear visitor, Thanks for your visit Sandland. I would like to make you know that Sandland biggest and uniqe all year open sand event of the world. So your viewpoint is so interesting and hope you can make great art pieces at the beach by yourself. Even you may try to make painting as same as Van Gogh! Best Regards

Sadly when we got there we were told that most of the sculptures and work were destroyed due to the bad weather. Worst thing is the lady tried to charge us full entrance fees lol thankfully we left.

The sandcastles are impressive works of art, but I think this site appeals more to the children. It only took about 20 minutes to make our way around the sandcastles. I'd imagined they would be bigger. If you have children or love sand-art, it's worth the trip.
We took the bus to Lara beach then a second bus for the 3km journey to the sandcastles. It's 2TL for the bus, and there's actually one that goes all the way from the old town to Sandland. The bus drivers are helpful and can tell you when to jump off.
