The handicrafts that was started in b.c. 2000 by Hittite Civilization had continued through Iznik designs in 15th century in the Ottoman Empire period so that as the follower of the handicraft traditions, Sultans Ceramic family has introduced the handicrafts by meeting with the art-lovers through its marketing activities in national and international levels and by using its 250 years experience in the area of 4500 m² that was constructed by carving entirely with the hand workmanship in the rock in Avanos in Cappadocia region.

We usually try to avoid shops and factories on guided tours as they are too often nothing more than a way for the guide to make some extra money through kickbacks! But I have to say we were very impressed with the Sultan's Ceramic facility. Starting with a friendly staff, they were not a hard sell approach but rather provided... More

This place is absolutely huge! From the outside it looks small but it's a veritable pottery tardis. Pottery of all shapes and sizes are presented. You can have a go at making pottery. Staff are all extremely inviting and polite and very proud of their workplace. Being Turkish it's a bit rough and ready in terms of outward appearance but... More

We went there with our kids, seven and nine, and we really enjoyed it. The pottery is top quality and Ali treated us very well. They got to try how to make pottery on a kick wheel and it was a lot of fun! Just a piece of advice: go and enjoy it!!!

This is a fantastic family run pottery store and experience. We received a tour and explanation of how different pottery pieces are made. Our children got to try their hand at sculpting clay and it was the highlight of their day. Their showroom is stocked with great pieces for all price ranges. The family was even nice enough to paint... More

Professional salesmanship. Very impressive display of locally produced craft work in traditional styles. We arranged to have the purchase delivered to us on a date 3 months after purchase and we could track its progress on line. The dish arrived in tact, well packaged, the day after arranged date. Overall we were very satisfied. Altogether we were very satisfied.

Our hiking guide took us to this place and assured us that we didn't have to buy anything. That turned out to be absolutely true. We got a quite elaborate tour that showed us how clay was created, how pots were made, etc. and we even got to try our hand at it. It gave us some appreciation for how... More

Huge selection of ceramics from simple patterns to very intricate designs. I was struck most by their beautiful bowls and platters but they have tons of items. More than anything, the people who run the workshop are super friendly. Very kind hearted and easy going. They show you the process of pottery making from beginning to end. No pressure to... More

My boyfriend and I visited Sultan Ceramics after reading many positive reviews. We caught public transport and attended by ourselves (ie without a tour group). Immediately we were greeted and welcomed in. They showed us how the products were made and provided a lot of detail about all of the ceramics on offer. We even got to try the pottery... More

The workmanship of the shop is impressive. Colourful, decorative, smooth texture, glossy glazed surface, meticulous details. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They showed us how some of the ceramics are made and how they were painted by hand. I can not say much about price, but if you’re travelling on a budget, some products may be dear. But like... More
