- Rosemarie BSan Juan, Puerto Rico143 contributionsBest pottery shop in town!Very well stocked pottery venue. Employee was very helpful touring us around their shop and taking about the procedures in making the pieces. Compared to other shops we visited in Avanos, this one was the best and reasonably prices. We even got to meet Mr. Galip.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 June 2023
- Marvin GOgdensburg, New York1,169 contributionsThe artistic talent in this museum/gallery would make anyone proud to work there. This museum and gallery provides the opportunity to observe the creative process of ceramic art and the artisans trained in the ceramic tradition of Avanos heritage. We watched a potterer work a foot-operated wheel while turning the rich red clay from the banks Kizilirmak (Red River) into a stunning piece ceramic art ready to be hand-painted and fired. We then went into the gallery which consisted of a dozen rooms with many different items and designs. My wife and I decided to purchase a ceramic Ottoman kaftan which was shipped to us insured. We are very excited to show it to our friends.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 20 December 2023

Mehmet was very helpful and informative in describing the processes, history, and legacy that this place holds. Educational for my children, and a delight to walk through multiple rooms filled with such beautiful artwork. This place has many talented artists contributing their unique designs.

Informative session and Chez Gallip is an excellent host. His workshop is like Alladin's cave, full of colour and works of great creativity. Enjoyed this sales-stop the most, way better than the carpet workshops and those horrid leather jacket outlets.

Top and authentic place run by a genuine family. Highly recommended to visit and enjoy every moment, from the warm welcome of Master Galip and his generous explanation and offerings, to the personal experience of trying to do pottery with the professionals.
And we continue our tour by visiting the art gallery where Galip's masterpieces are awingly displayed.

This workshop has been run by generations of the same family. We received a warm welcome with tea and were invited to show our skills on the pottery wheel (not much skill but good fun). They have some wonderful pottery and we purchased some small items.
Also, strangely is one of the most weird museums in the world...the Hair Museum, my wife now has a lock of her hair displayed there along with many thousands of others.

Very lovely pottery gallery at Avanos. Runs by generations of masters. Top quality stuff and great artistic skill. Bought some plates, pot coasters, mugs and bowls. Friendly and great service from the staff. Had a small pottery show by a master potterer making a pot. Meet chez galip himself as he demonstrate his very tough almost non breakable pottery. Overall great quality handmade stuff nothing compared to the slightly cheaper stuff that is sold on the streets all over turkey. If you wanna buy pottery i recommend this shop. Reasonable prices for the common products such as plates, bowls, coasters, pots etc.. There are special products too if you really wanna spend some bucks. Overall 10/10 great shop and history, great to meet the guy in person and great ambiance.
