We went there to buy some gifts and there were many shops. The things that they were selling were great and we loved them all. We have bought many things and the prices weren't that expensive. Everything was made by hand. So cool!

Avanos famous for its pottery. A very pretty little town, with a lovely river, and loads of fantastic pottery places as well as a pottery museum. Stay here.

Avanos is worth a half day visit! It is not about the tourists but local people living and hanging out there...more authentic and good shopping opportunities. We went on Friday, and had the chance to visit the local market, where local people go for veggies and other staff's shopping. That was an interesting place to visit. Also walking along the... More

We wished to stay in Avanos rather than touristy Goreme. Avanos is a small beautiful village with local shops and river. Only few minutes driving form Goreme, we felt like "coming back " to Turkey with friendly people around ... and we can find simit (pastanesi or bakery) shop. Walk in the evening along the river, is just pleasant.

Avanos town is 10 min drive from Goreme, stop at the center square of the town where you have the pottery statue and visit the pottery workshops available in the town, there are also many small restaurants where you can eat turkish cuisine. There is also a small river and a pedestrian bridge on top where you can see many... More

It's great to go to Avanos for few hours, to have a lazy walk in town's park alongside river and to feed dozens of wild geese

Capoccia is a beautiful place where you always come back, not only to cross this beautiful bridge, but cross into the depths of the soul and its underground cities .

My husband and in-laws visited in April 2015. We had a great time! We took a walk along the river bank and walked across the bridge to get to the center of Avanos. Spent the afternoon just browsing through the shops. Stopped by at a pottery shop and they showed me how to make a pot! It was so much... More

What a lovely town. First went to the hair museum, entrance is free. Over 3 million pieces of women's hair. It was started in 1979. Had a bite at the Macdonalds, must be the best Macdonalds I have ever seen worth popping in even if you aren't eating. The town has its weekly market on a Friday, rows of fresh... More
