Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had a stop at this place during our trip around Göreme. They have an interesting collection of stones. But they charge a lot for each item.

It is very common in organized tours to stop in one of those factories/shops where a short demo is made before you're taken into a very expensive jewellery shop. They had some nice stuff but it's probably way way overpriced. I wouldn't recommend going unless your tour stops there.

We were very enamored by their display of Zultanite jewellery and were tempted to buy. But, we are not very sure if the stones are genuine. We need to verify!!

Avoid this place like the plague. Total rip off. I was taken in as our guide tut tutted another lady and I in our tour group because we bought a zultanite stone ring from a dress shop and told us he was taking us jewellery shopping in Cappadocia. They give you a talk and tell you that a certificate will be supplied with each purchase. Told us our stones in the rings we had already bought were 3rd grade stones and they only sold 1st grade stones. The ring I bought had other stones on the sides if the ring. 3 of them fell out on the flight back to Istanbul. Luckily I was staying on for a few days and they arranged for someone from the Grand Bazaar to pick up the ring, replace the stones and check the other stones. But when I got the ring back, I could tell which stones had been replaced. They weren't a perfect match, just near enough if you didn't look too closely. After a couple of months at home, one the replaced stones then fell out. I only wear the ring for 3-4 hours once a fortnight when I go out with friends for lunch. My cheap ring from the jewellery store also has side stones. I wear it heaps and none of them has fallen out. Our certificates also only mentioned the gold or silver, not the quality of the zultanite stones. I've worn both my rings at the same time on different fingers, and there has never been any difference in the clarity or the colour. Should have bought from the markets in Istanbul...... DON"T BUY FROM THEM! Obviously the guides are getting kickbacks, bus loads arrive at this place.

Initially started with an onyx demonstration and after which we were guided to a showroom where they displayed all the semi precious stones for sale.
We wanted to purchase a Zultanite but did little research on it thinking that we can trust this shop since it looked pretty okay compared to the other bazaar-kind of shops. The salesperson dimmed the lights and showed us the change in colours of what they claimed to be a “Zultanite” gem.
Then they let us try it on and even asked us to see the shade of colour in sunlight. We were convinced and they guaranteed that it was 100% natural Zultanite stone which has undergone high heat and high pressure treatment. They also claimed that the gem can turn into 9 different colours based on the light intensity.
Their gem was green under normal light and turned pink under sunlight which is not the normal change of colour for a natural Zultanite which is green in sunlight and pink in indoor light. We were not issued any Zultanite authenticity guarantee certificate which they promised to give after payment but we received a handwritten certificate instead. We paid 150USD after a huge “discount” for a less than 1ct “Zultanite”.
We were suspicious and started researching more after we left the store only to realize that we had bought a lab Zultanite (Alexite) which is a synthetic colour change glass.
FYI, Zultanite does not require any further treatments as it is a natural colour changing stone. Also Zultanite changes color from a kiwi green in daylight to a rich raspberry in candlelight. So don’t be fooled by the colour changing scam in the shop.
So knowing this, we headed to the store and demanded a refund. We managed to get a refund with less hassle as there were other customers in the store. So this further proves that they are not selling natural stones.
I hope this review will save many future tourists who are planning to go Cappadocia. We learnt it the hard way and hope none of you will ever have to go through this experience.

Avoid ever buying from them especially if your tour guide brings you here. The prices (which are already 2 to 3 times the price of regular stores in Capodoccia & Istanbul) are not written in which currency so they tell you its USD instead of Turkish Lira. In other words, its about 4 to 5 times the price of regular stores in Capodoccia and Istanbul which is the reason why they don't mind "negotiating" and making "deals" if you buy more than 1 piece because you still end up paying 3 times (if not more) the regular prices.
I'm one of the tourists who got cheated by them. I bought 3 pieces that I ended up paying 3.5 times the regular price of regular stores (I "negotiated" it down from 6 times the regular price because I bought more than 1 piece price).
That's not the way to do business. I hope you know that it's hurts when you find out the money you lost because of you taken advantage of tourists.

I visited this factory with my turkish girfriend, we like to look separately to give us some freedom to check, we realized that the prices are written in an unspecified currency, I asked to store assistant and she told me that price is in dollar, when I meet with my girlfriend she told me that prices are in TL ( turkishh lira) which is 3 times less value than dollar. Then my girlfriebd asked and they recognised they sell same product in dollars and TL depending of from where you are. Obviously we dissapeared from there asap,

Went to this shop. Our tour guide was a Turkish. First time seeing stones that can change colours. Amazed with that, so I bought that stones called Sultanite. Never doubt it was fake because I got the certificates after buying that. So I thought it was the original one. I didn’t even search the exact price for this stone. I bought 1.5 crt (for my mom) + 0.5 crt (for me) sorry I couldn’t remember the exact price. I think around USD 150-200. (Check my photos, even the prices is not written well. Couldn’t discover the number) After months, I suddenly want to check how this stone works , I stumbled into its actual price. You guys can just search on Google. EXTREMELY HUGE DIFFERENCE OF PRICES!
