Pancarlick Valley is nice, very photogenic and full of amazing rock formations. It also holds the Pancarlik Church, carved into the rock about 1,400 year ago, and whose frescoes covering the walls and the ceiling are still in reasonable good shape, considering the age. It is remote, quiet, no other visitors when we got there, and makes for an enjoyable experience. It will be worth your time and effort.

It is in Pancarlık Valley, to the right of the Ürgüp-Mustafapaşa Road, in the south of Ortahisar Town. It has a flat ceiling, a single nave and a single apse. The Frescoes in the Church Have a Green Background and Are Very Well Preserved. Although at first glance it seems that two different artists painted the church at different times, when the scenes and all the writings are examined separately, it becomes clear that it was decorated by the same artist. The church, which contains frescoes depicting scenes from the Bible, dates back to the first half of the 11th century. Scenes: “The Appearance of the Prophet”, “The Annunciation”, “The Visit”, “Proof of Virginity”, “The Pursuit of Elizabeth”, “The Appointment of John the Baptist”, “The Miracle of Wine”, “The Healing of the Man Full of Evil”, “The Prophet . "Jesus and the Woman from Samarra", "Transfiguration", "The Massacre of Innocent Children", "Joseph's Second Dream", "Escape to Egypt", "Healing of the Demon-Strucked Man", "Hz. "Ascension of Jesus into Heaven", "Hz. "Jesus on the Way to Calvary", "Hz. “Jesus on the Cross”, “Hz. "Jesus' Descent into Hell", and Saint Depictions.

On the road from Urgup to Mustafapasa village
you will pass a turning on the right that leads to the Pancarlik Valley, one of Cappadocia's many interesting, but not very popular valleys. Scenery is spectacular, with pink rock and dollops white rocks, but there are three rock-cut churches to visit here too.
Between them Pancarlik Kilisesi is most important and interesting, a monastic church housed inside a group of rocks.
The ceiling of the church is still completely covered with frescoes Even when the church is locked you can still see these paintings from
the gate.

The landscape around Mustafa Pasa becomes particularly interesting around sunset when people gather together to watch it! A beautiful sight indeed!

The valley is just one of the amazing places to see and enjoy. Nature at its best! You have to maximize getting up close and personal to these locations as much as you could, it just makes a difference to be near where it stands. Attempt to find the highest spots as well so you can savor the entire features and changing colorful rocks and its formations. One of natures best!
