Erzurum is a city which everyone stop only because is on the way to the ski resorts, and I would not say was different about me. but for some reason I had stay few nights in the city that's why I will say that this city has a lot to offer. Just walking on the street you will crush with the beautiful structure of "Cifte Minareli mecerse" something you must see in Erzurum, specially at night.

There are twin minarets, there is an open hall in the middle. Stone handcraft is impressive. There is a small and well lit mediation room. There are two floors but only the ground is open. No entrance fee.

The Cifte Minareli Medrese is located on the cultural route of Erzurum. In the same route, you can see many historical buildings and constructions. In terms of function, a medrese is a type od state academy in both Seljukian and Ottoman Era. The Cifte Minareli Medrese was built in late 13th century. It has 19 rooms at the ground floor and 18 rooms at the second floor. The architecture and craftworks. In addition to the many floral stone rubbing, two figures are very remarkable: the tree of life and and twin head dragons. Those figures also are used in the interior design of the Restaurant Emirseyh Koftecisi vis a vis to the Medrese. The Medrese is also very well illuminated in nights. It is worth to visit.

Really worth a visit, this Seljuck architecture is very different from regular Ottoman structures of Istanbul. The differences are stark and its fascinating that the same people under different empires built such distinct buildings.

The daughter of Sultan Keykubad II, Hudavend Hatun, founded the Cifte Medrese in 1253 and it has, surprisingly, survived the ravages of time, virtually intact. It was one of the largest seminars in Anatolia and housed several hundred students. The impressive and imposing minarets of the school of theology are built of fine brick and in the Iconic style.
The fluted columns are inlaid with turquoise blue brick on the flat edges of the flutes.
At the time of its construction this "Arabesque" style was extremely and difficult to craft, considering the hard, harsh stone. The delicacy of the workmanship is admired by many.
The medrese was closed in August 2011 for restoration works, which were alloted a budget of 7million Tl.
The medrese was scheduled to re-open as a museum in May 2016
