Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It’s free for academics/teacher and student. It’s on a small hill. You don’t exhaust climb the top. Through passage you can see some pictures about historical event of Gaziantep, especially about independent of city. Don’t expect good panoramic place on the top. I think that there was a cafe before pandemic.

My last visit about 8 years ago, the castle wasn't completely open. Only the museum was open. My visit this time was intended to see the castle. Obviously there was excavation before as the archeologists identified a mosque and hammam. There is no further information yet but I suspect there are many more to excavate.
Not to forget the view of the castle from outside. It looked plain but from near, it was beautiful.

This old castle in in the centre of the old town of Gaziantep. You cannot miss it as it is well worth the visit.

This was first built by the Hittite Empire as an observation point and later built into a main castle by the Roman Empire on top of a hill in the centre of Gaziantep, Turkey in 2nd and 3rd century AD

The Castle had some renovation under Emperor Justinianus between 527 and 565 AD. The circumference of the round shaped castle is 1200 metres. The walls are built of stone and the castle consists of 12 towers.

The castle has been renovated numerous times and took its final shape in 2000.

Today, the castle is used as the Gaziantep Defence and Heroism Panoramic Museum, and a documentary regarding the defence of the city against the invading French troops after the fall of the Ottoman Empire runs periodically.

For 2 liras you get to climb to the castle and have a great view of the city. Inside of the castle there is a small war museum. On the top there is a small coffee shop.

The Castle is probably the most recognizable landmark in the city of Gaziantep. You can currently enter in for free but there is only a very small part of it accessible to the public. This part is loaded propaganda that shares a "mostly true" account the "heroic Turkish patriots" who defended the city from the "vile French aggressors" who were only trying to enforce the Treaty of Sevres. It is great if one is interested in seeing blatant misinformation Turkish style. For the rest, take your selfies from the outside and then move on to something better.

It was a Sunday that we visited the castle and it was overwhelmingly crowded: kids, large families, youngsters, all shouting, taking pictures and selfies... It was an unbearable crowd.... On top of it, the quite hot climate of the city made the tour a really difficult one. Unfortunately, the renovation is quite poor (almost nothing is from the past), the sculptures and displays are nothing but kitsch.... We almost hated the whole experience and we cut it short. I really can not see any reason to visit this castle, all the information you would read there (all in Turkish only) can be found in much more accurate details on various history resources... So, my recommendation is not to waste your time.....

Good place to discover some of the Gaziantep's history. There are some nice views over the city, too. There is a small entrance fee.
