This one is a very nice place to see the typical clock tower in Izmir, is very close to a little mosque so you can walk through the coast line, arrive to this square, see the clock and the mosque and back to the hotel during the sunset, this place is the most famous place there so you must have... Everyone I met on my travels in Turkey told me that if I ever visited Izmir I should see the " famous Clock Tower ". To hear them describe it, it was the next closest thing to Italy's Leaning Tower of Pizza or London's Big Ben. So anyway, got a chance to visit Izmir with the wife last weekend, and... More

Izmir unfortunately do not have that many heritage sites so it is very nice to see a bit of history preserved. The clock tower seat quietly in a lovely square overlooking the sea: the beautiful details of the tower and the beautiful marble "basins" on the side are just a pleasure to see.

Saat Kulesi is a beautiful monument and a must see, however, the area around it is more than wonderful. You need at least 4-5 hours to get a full feeling of that place. Don't miss having coffee at Kizlar Agasi. It is an experience you will never forget, especially if there are street performers playing authentic Turkish music. Also, you... More
