Unfortunately, this old armenian church has been transformed into a mosque by locals. There are many other mosques nearby, but this tiny structure should be released as a historical church.

Most impressive from the outside; similar to the church ruins found at Ani from the same period. Made of basalt and primitive carvings of the apostles to be found round the base of the dome. Next door to the more modern Evliya mosque - the largest mosque in Kars .Extensive earthworks to provide a new terrace revealed an alarming number... More

It's hard to associate this beautiful building with any religion, it's literally a house of God: it was built as a church back in 937, was converted into a mosque in 1064, was converted again into a church in 1878, was used as a museum between 1969-1980 and since its restoration in 1994, it serves as a mosque again. The... More

Turned mindlessly into an unused mosque. The outside looks really interesting which is frustrating. Don't think it was because of kurban bayrami

Once more.... a church, converted into a mosk, becoming a depot for the municipality, becoming finally a museum.... transformed back into a mosk. Although one of the older churches of the Armenian Kingdom in the 9th - 11th C, it is not the most beautiful example of an Armenian church. BUT it's condition is very well, even if the sculptures... The title of this attraction is wrong: the building in question isn't a museum at all (in fact, it housed a museum for a brief period in late 1980s / early 1990s), but a 10th century Armenian church of the Holy Apostles which during its long history has been turned several times into a mosque and back into a church;...
