- Tom083Broseley, United Kingdom293 contributionsGreat pit-stop after visiting SaklikentWasn’t far to take the car after visiting Saklikent, but well worth a short visit. Not a huge amount of information, but very interesting nonetheless. 60lira each so not a lot to part with. Amazing views from the top; unfortunately the stadium/amphitheater areas were out of bounds due to building work. The gentleman who runs the shop was very knowledgeable and passionate to share information (wouldn’t even take a tip from us!).Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 3 November 2023
- D1spmRedditch, United Kingdom2,097 contributionsBeautifulBeautiful ancient city that oozes history. We went as part of a group but you could easily venture round alone and enjoy it in all its glory. Watch out for wildlife as we found a baby tortoise wandering amongst the grassVisited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 1 April 2024
- PlanktyPortland, Oregon171 contributionsMust seeTlos is a off the path ancient lycian city about 40 min away from Fethiye city center. Quite a place to see if you are into history. Couple of small locally run cafes on site. Take a couple of hours to visit if you are around.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 11 April 2024
- Simon FSouthampton, United Kingdom94 contributionsMust see in you are in the areaWhat a gem. Arrived around midday and it was very quiet. A man around 60 approached us and basically said he was gonna take us around and sort out money later. Odd is an understatement. We after paying to go in about 200 turkey each. He then took us around showing us the sites and explaining what everything was and giving us great picture opportunities. The guy was a legend and we had a wonderful time. The tombs are around 4,000 years old and other parts are Roman around 2,000 years old. We paid the man some money which he seemed happy with and we went off looking at a few more bits before heading to the car. Make this a must see.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 May 2024
- Alton5689Wavendon, United Kingdom45 contributionsStunning site worthy of UNESCO status and funding hopefully in future .Stunning ruins ! So worth a visit . 2 teenage girls age 13 & 15 not typically into ruins ( nor me tbf) were absorbed by the history here . We arrived 9.30 to beat the heat . Picked up chap from jewellery selling stall ( he was a tour guide and archaeologist) . He accompanied us around for 1 hour . So interesting, he really brought it to life ! They only started excavating this site 29 years ago , which seems remarkable. It surely will receive UNESCO status , and more importantly funding soon , as lack of funds is holding back the discovering of the whole 3km site . Nice cafe and toilets at end . Don’t need any more than 2 hours total .Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 August 2024
- LunaBelfast, United Kingdom3 contributionsAmazingIt was amazing. Try to go there in the morning. Otherwise you’ll get tired easily and it will be hot. Do not miss to take photos of the Pegasus carving. There is a lady selling stones. Go there and get information. Everything is cheap there..Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 August 2024
- willisalannGoulburn, Australia83 contributionsAmazing Tlos Ruins. We had an amazing time exploring the Tlos ruins. Arriving early at 9.30 there was no one to pay an entree fee to, parking was easy and we were the only ones there. After 15 minutes of exploring a gentleman by the name of Ibrahim ( whom we had passed earlier at his tourist shop) approached us and offered to be our guide . At the outset he said he didn’t want to be paid. Ibrahim was kind, genuine ,passionate , enthusiastic and so knowledgeable about the Tlos ruins. For a good hour we were educated and Ibrahim showed us things that we would never have found ourselves. We climbed steep hills to find rock tombs , we found walls with layers of history and inscriptions , areas for sacrifice, it really was incredible. To be clear again Ibrahim did not ask for money to be our guide. When we finished we gave Ibrahim money , he politely refused but my husband put it in his pocket anyway . He really bought the Tlos ruins to life.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 September 2024
- Bean-BugglesPlumsteadville, Pennsylvania721 contributionsBeautiful site but limited signageThe ruins of Tlos are fabulous. Very glad we stopped here. The location is vast with no shade. There is very little signage. The site is best visited with a guide. As others have mentioned there is a gentleman giving tours who is an archaeologist and works at the site during excavation seasons. He will give you the history and show how this site was critically located in Lycia among the other cities off in the distance. There are numerous tombs all along the hills that are off limits and hard to access but with a guide you can explore them. The famous Bellerophon tomb is here and has carvings of the hero and his Pegasus. Several of the tombs still have working doors that slide, which is fabulous to see. Its very steep and slippery exploring the tombs. The site extends beyond what you see when parking. If you continue further up the road you will come to a theater and baths. The theater was closed during our visit. Bring lots of water if you plan to explore the full site. It could take up to 2-3 hrs.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 September 2024

Fethiye is an ancient city that can be entered with a museum card. Since it is a climbing walking path, it is recommended that you wear appropriate shoes and appropriate clothing. I recommend you to visit and see the historical city market, tombs, theater, etc., which are built in a large area.

Tlos ruins are located in 35 km to the southeast of Fethiye on a hill with a picturesque view
It's one of the oldest cities of the Lycian state. Its foundation dates back to about 2000 BC
Each era has left unique trace in Tlos Turkey: at the foot of the hill you can see echoes of the Roman Empire - the Agora and the amphitheater, slope is decorated with Lycian arts - Lycian tombs and finally the Ottoman fortress of Bloody Ali crowns the top of the mountain .

One of the only remains of a Lycian city in the hills. To me the most magical side where you can climb to the top which offers a great view.
The city has a theatre, a stadium, tombs built in the mountains, two baths and much more.
We spend approximately 2 hours there but could easily be a half day. Usually it is not very crowded.
There’s a free parking lot and some cafes located at the entrance. Entrance fee is very moderate (20 TL).
Absolutely worth a visit, but bring good foot wear (no flip flops) 😉

Rented a car for a week and this was one of my stops.
cheap entry, nice scenery, overall a really nice experience:)
would recommend if your into these types of things and have the time for it.
the amfi was closed at the time i was here which keeps this review from getting a "Excellent" :)

This looks awesome! Unfortunately I took jeep safari to Tlos and Sakiliient Gorge. I understood, will be time to explore Tlos a bit. They didin't stop in Tlos, only passing by. I really regret my decision because there are dolomuses to Sakiliient Gorge without all that entertainment on the board I was to sober to enjoy. I wasn't able to stand any more with so rude Britons( in every nations are rude people this time there were from UK), a women just pushed me from my sit like a trash, I complaining and been said that I am rude. I left excursion at once when jeep stopped in Gorge decided to come back by dolomus. That's not my cup of tee.
Waste of time and money if you want to see any historical attractions.

Please could someone tell me the opening hours? I'm coming with my father and don't want to come during the hottest part of the day. Ideally we would come late afternoon. Thanks in advance.
