The museum is still under restoration. You cannot even see it from the outside as a curtain covers the whole building. There is no timetable for completion posted and the workers I spoke to were friendly had no idea.
We were disappointed as the Museum is currently closed for restoration. Unclear when this will be reopened.
We went to the Trabzon Sehir museum which is close by and well worth the visit.

It was very interesting if you are interested on the history of Turkey, it shows you their old furniture that they had. It has some historical pieces and a statue of Hermes, it also explains the history of Turkey. It is located at Trabzon square.
We payed 5 lira per person and that is a good price for what we got. In the basement are archaeological relicts with information in Turkish and English. Unfortunately there isn't much information about the rooms in the ground floor and in the second floor....More
