It was a brilliant tailor made itinerary doing the southern loop. Entebbe, Kibale, QE2 NP, Bwindi and Lake Mburo. Mainly to see Gorillas and Chimps and for me some targeted birding to see Green-breasted Pitta having visited previously. Paul was an excellent guide, flexible, good company and fitting in exactly what we wanted. From my point of view as serious birder his excellent knowledge of my few target species and calls meant I saw more than I had expected.
I can't recommend Paul and Journeys Uganda highly enough, either if you are using them for a standard safari or and in depth hardcore birding trip. You will not be disappointed

Eliab and Paul, at Journeys Uganda, went above and beyond to plan, and execute, a wonderful itinerary for my group and I! Eliab was our driver and guide and was a wealth of information and kindness and was extremely helpful in every situation.

Having originally scheduled to travel with Paul @ Journeys Uganda in March 2020 only for pandemic and global lockdown to intervene 2 days before departing! 3yrs, multiple rearranged dates, changes to itinerary and a thousand emails, I made it in March (2023). Paul responded to at all times with patience and grace!
I wished to travel solo with a local operator/guide rather than an international group. This added an element of risk, not in security (Uganda is one of the safest countries for solo travellers) but the need for someone who was easy to get along with 1-2-1 for 12 days! I needn’t have worried, from our first meeting Paul became an instant friend. His calm, assured presence and easy laugh was matched only by his ability as a guide. Paul is one of the most respected tour operator/owner/guides in Uganda. He had not only trained most of the other guides we met at each of the national parks during my stay but also sits on multiple travel/tourism boards.
My itinerary followed the traditional route around the SW corner of the country, in and out of Entebbe with a number of must sees! Thanks to Paul I saw all of the wildlife I wished to and so much more. I know for a fact I would not have seen a number of birds had I chosen anyone other than Paul.
For all the this, should I return to Uganda in the future it will be with Paul and Journeys Uganda.

Our second trip with Journeys Uganda was just as enjoyable as the first. Paul is an outstanding bird guide, finding birds by sight and sound, and making sure we also saw them. He planned a great trip for our short time - we packed in so many amazing experiences of birds and animals in the parks and enjoyed great lodges and destinations.

My second trip with Paul Tamwenya the owner of Journeys Uganda. This was a short 5 night 6 day trip as a third leg to our East Africa trip. The last trip was a 20+day trip. This trip included Chimp trekking and Gorilla trekking so there was not much tme for birding!! However we still saw 277 species taking my Ugand a list to over 550 species.
The logistics were all perfect, everything was so well organized. The Chimp and Gorilla trekking were both succesful and totally amazing. I was with 4 other friends on this return trip.
I have had the good fortune to bird with many guides thoughout the world. Paul Tamwenya is a world class bird guide. His knowledge and ability to locate special birds by sight and sound is exceptional. Very Highly recommended.

Uganda's National Parks are incredible. The rain forests and savannahs, with all of the wildlife is amazing to experience. And, having an expert guide like Paul, with all of his knowledge, experience, and patience made the trip perfect.

Two friends and myself spent 15 days in a birding trip of Uganda with Journeys Uganda. The trip was exceptional. We spotted a total of 360+ species, including shoebill, African green broadbill, two types of trogons, and red-winged grey warbler. Paul was an exceptional guide. His spotting skills are uncanny. He also arranged the trip so that the logistics were managed easily. His enthusiasm, energy and friendly demeanor made the trip worth every minute.
Paul was also fantastic with wildlife. While covering six of Uganda's ten national parks we saw lions, leopard, hippos, elephants, hyenas, giraffes, zebras, jackal, buffaloes, and other smaller mammals. And of course we saw the gorillas, chimpanzees and golden monkeys.

Paul arranged a spectactular 11 day birding trip, covering the hotspots like Mabamba Swamp, Lake Mburo, Bwindi Ruhija then on to Buhoma, QENP and final destination Kibale Forest NP. Communication with Paul was always very swift, all arrangements done exceeded expectations. Our birding guide throughout the tour was Arshley Brian - his exceptional skills have been comprehensively reported in various trip reports and, what can I say, he is simply stunning!!! Despite Uganda currently experiencing a severe drought with an substantial impact on bird activity, Arshley detected birds by sight and sound where we had difficulty to even see them with our bins. In all, we ticked some 300plus birds - and have had a great time with Arshley who shared with us insights into Uganda's daily life. His extremely pleasant and entertaining character combined with his outstanding birding skills made this trip a real exceptional experience.

Paul Tamwenay and Journeys Uganda arranged a completely fantastic trip for my wife and I. We traveled throughout Uganda viewing and photographing 534 species of birds and many animals of Uganda including the shoebilled stork, mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, zebras, Cape buffalo, elephant and hippopotamus. The accommodations were always comfortable for the areas we visited.

Paul arranged a 4 day, birding focussed tour to Mabamba Swamp, The Royal Mile and Murchison Fall NP. The guides provided were trully expert; finding over 260 species during the trip, many by call whilst driving which was incredible. William, Arshley and Nelson were also very pleasant and fun travelling companions. If you want to experience the huge variety of East African birds in Uganda then I cannot recommend this company highly enough. In addition to the fantastic variety of birds I had very close encounters with elephants, giraffes, buffalo, hippos, crocodiles and all manner of antelopes and relatives. The accommodation, particularly at the Hornbill Lodge adjacent to Murchison, was very comfortable and provided a genuine taste of the Bush. Much better in my view than a starred tourist resort.
