Nice town

Small cozy and very charming town. If there is a hot day, as ours, you can rest in the park, restaurant or on the river coastline.

I have to say that this old town is very interesting and fret to walk around specially in a sunny warm day but it is not the most impressive I have seen. It is small picturesque and full of nice buildings and history. Recommended visit

Being from Germany we have visited historic places, ruins and castles before but this was different,it was part of "the new world" . Quite interesting and well presented, also relatively clean and walkable.

As noted before we did day walking tour with another couple and he spoke Spanish which helped a lot. There is a lot of walking on some uneven spots

The old city is pretty but very small. Museums were very small and not very informative and did not open until 11:15. Some good restaurants but overall we thought Colonia overrated.

It is a short ten minute walk from the Buquebus fast ferry. You must wear comfortable walking shoes since original cobblestones are throughout. There are cute little shops and interesting cafes. You may climb the lighthouse for a small entry fee. It is worth the sight.

After a few days in exhausting Buenos Aires (noisy, polluted), Colonia and its old historic Barrio is the best escape I could wish for. This is a tiny yet cute place that awaits visitors. One walks along these lovely streets from another time, delivering a peaceful atmosphere. We went there for a one-day trip from BA (as many people do),... More

Only an hour by ferry from Buenos Aires, and two hours by bus from Montevideo, this lovely little town deserves a visit and make it a full day if you can. It doesn't take more than a couple of hours to walk around the main historic area but there are potentially 8 museums to visit as well as the climb... More

Colonia del Sacramento is an easy day trip from Buenos Aires via the fast Buquebus ferry. The old town is a short (less than 10 minutes) wall from the ferry dock. You only need a few hours, including time for a meal, to see this lovely, compact, walled town. It is a well worth a visit to see older architecture... More
