Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really beautiful inside this small mausoleum. It’s not very big but it’s worth going in to see the beautiful tiles. You can go down into the crypt and look up at the ceiling from the lower floor. Saw some tourists walk up and decide not to go in…. Personally I think they missed out as although small it was well worth going in when you’re in the area.

A simple, less imposing monument just across the Mosque is a rare gem to visit. Here in lies Bibi Khanym, a legendary character from the life and times of Timur era. Built during 14th century, this Mausoleum is a classic example of less ornamental architecture reflecting the solemnity of the place. There is an admission ticket to enter the place.

The tiny Bibi-Khanym Mausoleum is sometimes confused with the huge Bibi-Khanym Mosque on the opposite side of the street. It is a simple one domed structure which was built in the 14th century as a tomb for Sarai Mulk-Khanym's (Bibi-Khanym) mother . Two other ladies in the family were subsequently added to the tomb. It is one of the older structures in the city and underwent detailed restoration in 2007. The admission price is almost the same as it's huge neighbour across the street, so it is rarely visited.
The entrance to the mausoleum is visible from the street. The powder blue dome atop, is on a slightly raised platform similar to the Iranain architecture style. There were Persian inscriptions on the band below the dome. The mausoleum is on a large open area which seems strange for such a small building. A madrasah used to be on this site also until it was destroyed during the invasion of Nasir Shah in 1740. Unless you are really interested in the history of Bibi-Khanym, it will be difficult to justify a visit here, but it is a historic site.
Nearby attractions include the Qoraboy Mosque a short walk south and if you walk north on Tashkent Road, the Hazrat Khizr mosque, President's tomb and Shah-i-Zinda Ensemble can be viewed. The Siab bazaar is just across the road from the mausoleum and is also an interesting visit. There are many electric carts in this area which can take you into town for a reasonable price to avoid the hot walk.

Nice but only to visit if you have enough time and i ad money because it is clearly more expensive "per square meter" than all the other sights

Small mausoleum opposite the main mosque. In comparison to the mosque and the other main sights of Samrkand, nothing special.

It is very nice and at the moment a good way to see what it looks like pre-restoration.
Hopefully they don't put too many shops all over the inside of it
All over Uzbekistan there are tickets to go in to every sight

This is a surprisingly simple 14th Century mausoleum which contains five tombs and a lovely painted interior.

Old traditions were kept for centuries. You should listen to the background of establishing these mausoleums

The architectural complex consisting of a madrasah and a mausoleum was built at the turn of the XIV-XV centuries. on the initiative of the “main wife” (“kattakhanum”) of Amir Temur Saray-mulk khanum. The madrasah has not survived, but the mausoleum of Bibi Khanum has survived to this day. At the beginning of the 21st century, the mausoleum was restored and now looks quite decent. Entrance fee - 25,000 UZS.
