This museum was opened in 1935 after being donated by the Tokugawa family. It has 10,000 artworks, eg. bequests, treasures, etc., with great variety, quality and thoughtful preservation. There are 9 displays being designated as National Treasures, 59 objects being designated as Important Cultural Properties...More

This is a very well laid-out museum with clear explanations in English as well! From swords to artifacts and a section for the Genji Monogatari scroll, it is worth the trip. There is even a nice garden though we did not manage to complete walking...More

IG-worthy garden. The landscape done was really amazing. However, it's quite small. What's really amazing though is it's in the middle of the city and it feels like you're transported to another place when you enter the garden. I supposed it is good for some...More

An unpretentious art museum, complete with a pristine setting, quiet and serene garden grounds, a nice and typical restaurant - glimpses of a fascinating country, a Japan of the heart, lending itself to easy and gradual discoveries, like some sort of journey into the inner,...More

While I found the museum to be an excellent collection and enjoyed the time with friends, I would not have chosen here based on my experiences with these artifacts in Kyoto and other museums. That being said, it is very good just not for me

Tokugawa Art museum is a little and nice museum located in the Garden. It's really easy to walk and worth the visit. I spent only 30 mins as I was running out of time. No pictures allowed!.

Quite small museum and less Japanese art than I expected. Quiet and peaceful. I recommend visiting the garden, too. It's quite compact but refreshing.

The museum was far from the subway. When we got off the station, we did not know which direction and there was no sign. We asked a lot of locals and they did not know. Happened to see some teenagers school boys and were friendly...More

This museum is mostly about a young woman from Nagoya that was married to a Tokugawa shogun during the later years of the eco period. There are a lot of artifacts in the museum, worth a visit!

I was so looking forward to visiting this museum after doing research on things to do in Nagoya. As a history buff, the hype and information on the web was irresistible. With over 1000 historical items in their collection, including several suits of armour worn...More
