Nice getaway from the bustling touristy area of Takayama to walk among the greenery/fall leaves, temples and cemetery. I started my walk a tad too late in the evening so it got dark quite quickly as it is the autumn season.

Such a peaceful walk that takes you around many temples and gardens mostly avoiding the high street. We have been to Koyasan and this walk reminded us of this due to the peacefulness. Very beautiful temples off the beaten track with lovely gardens. There was bathroom provided by one temple which was much appreciated.

We only did part of the walk (the top part around the hill) so we missed all the shrines, etc. We really enjoyed the peaceful, leafy walk. We occasionally saw a few locals also walking It would be great in the fall when the colours are at their best. There is also a good little cafe at the end by... More

We did this walk during our first day and really enjoyed the stroll. The temples aren't that interesting per se but the walk is very pleasant.

A beautiful walk past temples and small neighbourhoods on the outskirts of takayama. There are signs to guide you and some small hills to navigate. Green gardens and freshly planted rice paddys abound beside neat little homes. Free and well worth it. Zd

We spent over 2 hours walking from our hotel near the train station and did not complete the entire route. It's definitely a great escape from the crowd of the old town. The morning walk was refreshing and you could slowly explore the temples though most were closed when we visited. Seemed like these are old temples which opened only... More

There is a nice old temple in this walking trail. We went there around 5 pm. The weather and lighting of late afternoon sense me the sacredness of this temple. It is very beautiful....

Quite an extensive walk around the Eastern edge of town covering several temple complexes and graveyards. Very peaceful and strangely fascinating place. Graveyards are built into the hillside and totally without order.
