The landlady of KAIKARO, Lady Baba, explains Geisha and Teahouse culture at KAIKRO teahouse in Higashi Chaya District in English.

This 90 minute show was very informative of the history of Kanazawa and Geisha traditions. The show is engaging, so time flew by.
The cadence and delivery was the right speed and amount of information for my foreigner mind to wrap around.
The presentation was very interactive and I would return to come see the show again!
Just some insight for people reading reviews planning their trip:
Step 1: book this show, it's worth it.
* If you are tall or plus sized, book yourself in the 3rd row. Your legs and tail bone will thank you.
* Eat something before hand. Most shops/restaurants will be closed by the time you get out.
* Don't lie to Lady Baba, she knows all.

Wonderful evening with Lady Baba and two Geisha. Our family, which includes a young adult child (performance is best for guests 21yrs+ Sake is served), enjoyed the singing, dancing, music and explanations that provide cultural awareness and context. Highly recommend. 90 minutes. Upgraded seats were worth it to have a backrest!

What a memorable evening!! Hilarious, educational and beautiful - a perfect mix of understanding Geisha culture whilst being relatable and interactive. Would highly recommend to all visitors to Kanazawa and Japan!

This informative and entertaining is a good way to learn more about geishas and their role in Japan. Both by educating speeches of lady Baba and demonstrations of her geisha’s you get to understand it way better, and if you’re lucky or ballsy you can even join in. Go & enjoy!

This was amazing.
Everything I hoped for and more we enjoyed Lady Baba and the lovely geisha's.
It was captivating and funny the entertainment plus education was fantastic.
We loved seeing lady Baba's home and the staff were so wonderful they recommended many places to see and restaurants.

Lady Baba stole the show. When she was introduced and walked into the room, the audience held their breath. She truly captivated the audience w her charisma and humor. The short presentations of her geisha were interesting but I think Lady Baba is the main attraction. Listening to the shamisen and taiko can be boring if it’s done for too long so the length of each performance was good for me. Wish the Lady would take Q & A as I had more questions about geisha culture. Overall, the best part of my trip in Kanazawa. Lady Baba is my new spirit animal ❤️

This show has it all. You experience being with a Geisha enjoying their singing, playing and dance whilst learning about their way of life. Watching the games played during the evenings was fun.
Learning about the tea house and how they work was fascinating. A great night well worth the money.

When booking an event like this, tailored to tourists, one is always concerned that it might be too "touristy", but Lady Baba strikes a perfect balance between authenticity and accessibility. The event is both entertaining and informative, as well as great fun, and charming. The performances of the geishas, especially the singing and the dancing are transfixing. Highly recommended.

If I remember correctly it ended around 7.20-7.30pm. I think it's good to get there about 30 mins early to book your seats.
