This is one of the most famous museum in Kanazawa, very near to the Kanazawa station by the bus... You can take any buses from Kanazawa station to here just 10-15min...

Seriously, the 21st Century Museum in Kanazawa is a nuisance, not a museum. The art collection is uninspired, tossed together with the only aim to give visitors some nice selfie opportunities. The staff is clueless and unfriendly, the entrance fee scheme opaque. Best circle around the building, have a look at the "Swimming Pool" by Leandro Ehrlich in the court... More

The museum is of contemporary art so goers would have to expect the type of art works that looking for. Honestly, I am not a great admirer of contemporary art so not really impressed with the exhibitions. Otherwise the building is a nicely constructed with a stylish cafe restaurant.

Overall a disappointing experience. Installations and architecture are popular selfie opportunities, attracting large crowds. The atmosphere is loud and chaotic, not exactly conducive to viewing art. Museum itself is interesting but crudely constructed and already looking the worse for wear. Advice: try to go at a less crowded time.

There is an entry charge to get to the best bits and the best bits are great. The museum is also a beautifully designed place in its own right so there is a great deal to enjoy but not perhaps if you are seeking out traditional art!

It's near one of the Kenrokuen entrances. The paid area is more expansive so if you're here for the free exhibits you may be disappointed. Not too exciting

Check out the pics! I think some of the exhibits were kind of difficult to understand but still had fun. I like the art stuffs outside better than the ones inside.

It is a perfect circle! Inserted with cubes. Shaped like a dish filled with pieces of sushi. The renowned architect SANAA certainly had a sense of humour when conceptualising this. Set into a park, the continuous circular glass edge peers into the surrounding park without interruption. The structure in pure white is pristine, minimalist and an art piece in itself.... More

Building is an interesting structure. Like many Japanese buildings, rather minimalist. There was a a good mix of displays when we visited which we found very interesting. The cafe/restaurant in the museum is a good place to eat.

This museum is located near the Kenroku-en, and makes a perfect pitstop on a chilly Autumn day. There were amazing art installations on our day of visit-- the Craft versus Design exhibition of Naoto Fukasawa is intelligent and thought-provoking.
