Of the three greatest Japanese landscape gardens (alongside Kairaku-en in Mito, Ibaraki (below) and Koraku-en, Okayama), Kenroku-en has to be my absolute favourite. It features a variety of flowering trees which provide the garden with a different look for each season. I have yet been able to witness the stunning illuminations only available in Winter.

It's a famous and beautiful garden but it can get really crowded with multiple tour groups and school trips. It's a nice walk for an hour or so.

The Garden is a really a fantastic place. It's special because it is not only beautiful itself but also on top of a small hill. You can see surrounding below the garden. That also creates a very good view out from the garden.

As one of the top 3 landscaped gardens in Japan, it is true to it's name. Recommended to spend 2 hours.

I went there in late October. Although it wasn't time for red maple leaves or its famous snow scenery yet, it was still very beautiful. I could spend a whole day looking at the ancient old trees and tranquil lakes there.

Kenrokuen is beautiful under a blanket of pristine snow. Even with lots of visitors walking the grounds, it feels so incredible peaceful. I have to come back and see it in the Fall too one day.

Talking of Kanazawa, many people conceive Kenrokuen that's one of the three prestigious traditional garden in Japan. You can see trees that have been beautifully trimmed, which creates a harmony with ponds, stone lanterns, bridges and any other elements. If you go there in winter, you will see trees whose branches are tied up with ropes. - what we call... More

First night in Kanazawa with a wonderful, but very wet walk in the garden. A few later a along the paths and lit trees made for a delightful evening stroll. Check the calendar for illuminations. Opposite the 21st century contemporary museum. Taxis ranks at the back? Front of the museum . Cost us about 1030 yen from station to museum.

Kenrokuen 兼六園 is one of top3 garden in Japan. I visited on Jan. So I could see beautiful garden with snow. This garden structure is designed by Japanese traditional policy. So when people visit here, people feel calm. There is Japanese cafe shop in garden. If you want to try Japanese tea, you should visit there.
