Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This beautiful small park with pond is one of the well preserved park inside the castle park. A few steps up and down in order to reach the park from the castle and if you are in wheelchairs then you can reach this park from Ohori dori avenue. A tea pavilion just facing the small pond to enjoy the beauty. Worth a visit and it is free. During night time the garden is litted up and more beautiful..

Visited in Feb 2023 early in the morning. It's a very picturesque little garden, not huge, but absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Definitely worth a quick visit especially if you already have Kanazawa Castle on your itinerary.

We went to the rest house to take in the view while enjoying a green tea and it was really worth it! It is 720Y for a tea and a pastry, that you have in the tea house on tatamis in front of the garden. Very peaceful (we had the room for ourselves!). No need to book in advance.

This place is a national treasure, it really is! What an utter gem. Located inside the castle grounds it is a beautiful garden, only restored in 2015 after being neglected since 1868. It had been used in all its glory since it was first designed in 1634 but fell away after years of neglect. The recent work has restored it to it's full glory.
It's a gorgeous little garden with a little waterfall, bridges, beautiful trees, shrubs and manicured lawns. Its many paths are simply a delight to stroll around.
Special mention has to go to the wonderful ladies in its tea house that serves just as much as a tourist information office. They offer maps, advice about what to do, information about the garden and general chat and good cheer.
A truly wonderful place.

The gardens put on a free sound and light show each evening until around 9pm lasting until 1st December. The programme runs on a 7 minute cycle and during the period it is running there are four different themes representing each of the season’s. There is also a covered area to view during inclement weather. Worth seeing if in the area.

This was a lovely garden which we saw on the way to the castle. The tea ceremony was beautifully done, and the cake they gave you was delicious. The rest was welcome as tourists have to do so much walking!

We passed through the Garden on our trip from the Omaya Shrine to the Kanazawa Castle. This Garden was originally the private garden of the Maeda. Although small, it is beautifully arranged with ponds and a hillside. We were provided with a nice talk, in English, explaining the rice ropes that are installed on the trees in November and removed in March. These ropes are the scaffolding that holds the winter protective covers for the trees. This technique is a trademark of Kanazawa.

Very pretty small garden but perhaps I am
Smitten because we happened upon the full moon harvest festival and had a light show with music as the moon was rising. It was lovely.

This wonderful garden has only been created within the past couple of years. It is an amazing landscape garden with water feature and air-conditioned visitor house where you can take a seat indoors on a hot day and admire its beauty. The staff there spoke very good English and only too happy to explain its history – it was apparently once an equestrian centre and part of the local university, and now a part of the Kanazawa Castle Park for all. It is smaller than the Kenrokuen Garden but well worth admiring.

We were drawn to this garden by a Fodor's Japan guide commentary (2016) saying it is a place to see... Well actually it pales compared with the Kenroku-en Garden just next. Nice but overrated.
