車は伊豆高原駅の南側、線路渡ったところにある橋立観光駐車場（無料）におきました。ここから川沿いを700mほど降りて行ったところに大淀小淀があります。トイレはこの駐車場のみですが、2017年に改装したようで結構きれいです。我々はホテルで着替えてからここに来ました。帰りは駐車場まで歩いているときに水着が乾いたので、バスタオルやTシャツ羽織ってそのままホテルに戻りました（車のシートには念のためビニール敷きました）。駐車場トイレ脇の水道があるので、そこで流して着替えている家族もいました。
けっこう降りて行って林の中に入りますが、大淀小淀と橋立吊り橋の分岐点に水道があるので、そこでも真水の補給ができます。分岐点から大淀小淀（または吊り橋）は20m程度です。
我々は13時頃到着したのですが、既に5家族くらい居て、泳いだりシュノーケリングを楽しんでいました。魚がたくさんいて綺麗でした。小淀のほうは浅くて良いのですが、水があまり入ってこないため暖かく、魚も少なかったです。ビーチの海水浴では魚と戯れることはできないので、子供たちにはとても良い経験だった様です。小さなカニやカエルウオを捕ったりもできました。
波が高いときは入れないと思いますので、台風接近には注意が必要かと思います。

奇勝「大淀・小淀」です。 こんな景色見たことないです。 溶岩台地のような景色が広がります。階段がありますので降りてみましょう。
海岸に降りると、岩場に亀甲模様に似た多角形が並んでおり、その不思議な光景に驚かされます。このあたりは、海に流れ込んだ溶岩が急激に冷やされてできた柱状の割れ目、「柱状節理」が最もよく観察できる場所らしいです。
彫刻したような亀甲模様の割れ目は、その柱状節理を上から見ている状態なんです。この海岸の岩が”柱状節理”なんですね。 火山の力はすごいと感じさせてくれますね。ここにある汐だまりを”淀”と言うそうで、。大きなのが「大淀」で、その右にはもう少し小さい「小淀」もあります。城ケ崎にこんな変わった景色が見られるなんて、全く知りませんでした。

相模湾の荒波が押し寄せる、豪快な海辺でした。水辺まではおりませんでしたが、しぶきがときどきかかり、その迫力はたまりません。

橋立吊り橋に行く途中にある岩礁エリアです。柱状節理の上部が歩けるような岩礁です。ところどころ窪みがあり水が溜まっています。降り口の階段がかなり急なうえ、高波の際は危険なので立ち入りが禁止されています。
注意しながら先端に進んでみましょう。振り向くと、まさに絶景です。
城ヶ崎の複雑な海岸線が眼前に広がります。
左側には橋立吊り橋、右には対馬の滝が鑑賞できます。
