Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Situated at the waterfront in Shimizu, the Plaza has been open for about 15 years. The latest addition is the big wheel - well, it's not so big, and moves rather sedately...
There is a selection of cafes and eateries, offering mainly Japanese catering. as Shimizu is famous for its fishing industry (principally tuna) there is always a good range of fish on offer.
Outside there are pleasant walks along the docks (where you can fish, too!), and not far off is the ferry terminal to take you to Toi (a small beach resort on the west coast of the Izu Peninsula.
There are all kinds of craft arriving and leaving, so for boat-lovers, this can be fascinating on a sunny day. Local events also take place at weekends on the small arena near the dock.

The S-Pulse building houses a number of interesting shops and cafes, where you can find a wide range of local specialities, often available, neatly wrapped, as souvenirs to take home for friends and family. There is a supermarket, there are places to try sake and green tea, as well as Japanese wines. The indoor area of the cafe often features guest bakers and caterers.
Upstairs are some boutiques and more shops and stores.

We visited S Pulse Dream Plaza in April 2015, during one of our cruise ship stops in Japan. The plaza is very walkable from the Shimizu cruise terminal, where our ship docked. You can not miss the plaza as there is a large Ferris wheel in front of the building.

In the building there is a food court, merchants selling fresh food & souvenirs. For soccer fans, there is the Shimizu Soccer Shop on the 2nd floor. There is also a sushi museum & movie theater in this complex, but we did not go into them.

The merchants there were very friendly & courteous.

We visited on a stopover in our cruise. Small but decent mall with a few eateries. Play area for kids and Ferris wheel is good. Decent Shizuoka tea is available.

There is better shopping, and better views, and better food, elsewhere. This is more of a local hangout, especially for high school students and soccer fans. The shops are nothing special, perhaps even below par on any standard. If you're strapped for time, I would avoid it. Otherwise, it's something to do on a day when you've got nothing else to do.

We toddled along here from our cruise ship. There's a ferris wheel and a children's activity centre; seemingly a whole floor is dedicated to slot machines!! shops are quite pleasant. Two minutes away there is a Uniqulo and also a really good shoe shop (that's worth a visit)

I was afraid this was going to be touristy, but there were mostly locals here. It was a short walk from the cruise port -- we could see the Ferris wheel from our ship. We docked at 6 p.m., so the Sushi Museum was already closed, but almost all of the shops and restaurants were still open. We ate at a ramen place at the far end of the mall. It was great! Some of the shops had Japanese-made crafts. We enjoyed going through there and made a few purchases.

We spent the day at the pulse plaza on our shore excursion. The plaza is a 10 minute easy flat walk from the cruise terminal. The plaza has lots of great sake stores, grocery , tea, and souvenir stores. There was a sports clothing store on second level that sold 2020 Olympic shirts and Official Japan soccer shirts for the national team. We had Raman for lunch extremely busy and you had to order and buy ticket in a vending machine. The staff were very helpful with the order machine. Spent about 3 hours there. Nice clean and bright plaza

We arrived on a cruise ship and decided to have a walk around part of the city. This mall had live entertainment outside which made it enjoyable. My wife was able to find some hair pins, which are really hard to get elsewhere so it made for a profitable stop.

Was hoping for a good glimpse of Fuji from shimizu but due to the cloud I there was no Fuji to see so I passed the time browsing S pulse. It was good for children’s activities with the arcades and games. And has lovely handmade gifts and souvenir shops.
The food markets are also good with lots of choices for fresh and dry produce.
There are also lots of little sushi bars and places to eat including McDonalds.
Defiantly worth a visit if you have an hour or two to spare.
