It was a nice place to visit and was in the centre of Toyama city. There were no entrance fees and it had a pleasant garden to stroll around.

It will become disappointing when you expect a representative castle of Japan as the big castle tower does not exist in Toyama Castle. But it will be evaluated that there is it in the urban middle and there is a beautiful small Japanese garden maintained very much.

The castle is complete with a moat and stunningly beautiful grounds. You can also, for a modest fee, go inside, which I highly recommend. There are a zillion photo ops walking around the castle with the moat, the grounds and the beautiful Alps in the close distance.

Our room faced the castle and we enjoyed the day and night view. Rather small as castles go, it's well kept and has a long moat surrounding it. Pleasant to walk around it.

The beautifully restored castle and park is a great place to spend some time in Toyama. The castle was rebuilt and today houses an interesting museum, outlining the history and life of the castle. The newly finished grounds are spectacular any time of year! Stroll around during cherry blossom viewing, Autumn colours, winter snows and lush summer greenery!

The castle gives you an overview of the history of Toyama. Whilst the exhibits all have Japanese explanations, there is an English guide that you can borrow.

This is a very quiet and peaceful place. Not far from JR station. It is worth coming, not a waste of time.

Parts of the castle tower, walls and moats remain. The castle is a museum but it was closed on the day I visited. The Japanese garden is very nice with waterfalls and streams. An enjoyable visit.
