Located atop a hill within the Historic Quarter. The temple was founded in 985 and was moved to several locations nearby, eventually settling to its current location in 1594. Like Achi shrine, the location offers a view overlooking Kurashiki, but from differing angles.

The Kanryuji Temple sits nicely on top of a hill overlooking the city. There are a few steps to walk up to get here but it's worth the climb. I came here later in the day and the wooden doors were closed so I came back earlier the next day and they were open. The grounds are nicely kept up as was the temple. You can get lovely pictures here especially if the sky is blue. I was the only one here at the time so it felt peaceful, I definitely recommend.
