Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is one of my favorite places in Kurashiki.
The museum has a lot of interactive activities related to Momotaro.
Oh, if you haven't experienced a Japanese haunted house, try visiting this place because they have one on the second floor.
The staff are nice, too. Knowing that we were foreigners, they guided us how to experience the activities ln the first floor.

A little museum about Momotaro, the little boy from Japanese tales. This is mostly for kids, but as it's part of Japan, it was nice to see once. The staff was funny, asking you to try some of the activities and taking pictures of you doing it. This area is not crowded, not much tourist.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here. The story of Peach Boy was a favorite of my family growing up, and the museum does a wonderful job of making Peach Boy and his adventures come to life via multiple small, interactive exhibits. There are artifacts on the second floor , including a screen print, vintage copies of Peach Boy comics, a historical video, and more. However, for me the first floor was the most fun, as the museum uses interactive multimedia and displays to recreate the journey of Peach Boy, from birth to triumph, for the museum-goer to experience directly. I was especially impressed by the guide, who led me each step of the way through the museum and was very patient in demonstrating how to interact with the different parts of the exhibits.
Most everything in the museum has instructions in both Japanese and English, which is convenient, and both the guides and the subject matter are a delight. Well worth the visit--an hour of pure fun!

We needed to get out of the rain so popped in to this very Japanese "museum". Others have said it is aimed at children, but there seemed to be plenty of people of all ages getting a good deal,of mirth out of it. I now have 2 treasured pictures of both my husband and our tour guide appearing (head only!) from the centre of a giant peach. I wouldn't seek it out, but if you are at a loose end in Kurashiki and like a laugh it is worth a visit.

The staff are playful and welcoming, they will guide you through the optical illusions. Next comes the ghost alley/mini haunted maze that you go through without the staff. I won’t spoil it because it’s fun scary even for adults despite being labelled as a kids maze. Lastly you go upstairs for bathrooms and the museum part. There are two videos in Japanese, one seems weirdly like old military propaganda for children featuring animals because I didn’t see Momotaro. Regardless if you need a break from walking around Kurashiki anyways, you can sit and enjoy the pictorial part of the 1st video or gaze at the surrounding displays. It’s pretty small so expect to get through the place in about 30-45min depending on if you read Japanese.

This is really a collection of anything related to the famous folktale, rather old, dusty but still somehow
managing to stay open. Not worth the admission charge unless you want to support the local economy and the eccentric man who enthusiastically shows you a number of optical illusions, which bears no relation to Momotaro but is fun anyway.

This is a very peculiar museum in the Bikan Historical Quarter, paying homage to folklore sweetheart Momotarou. If you come here, it is assumed that you have some basic knowledge of the tale, because the Museum does not offer any explanation whatsoever. It basically houses someone’s collection of Momotarou toys and related items, sprinkled with random optical illusion exhibits.

This quaint little museum is, once you've found it, a triumph of love over glitz and glamour. You have to look carefully even when you are standing outside the front door as the only sign in English is small and not always displayed to its best advantage.
Once inside you will get dragged back to your childhood.

In this museum you can view several Momotaro-themed visual illusions. We thought most were hilarious and great fun, but they were clearly aimed towards children. It's worth visiting if you have time to spare and want to see an edible flute.

Although Momotaro's Karakuri Museum has the name of a museum, it is not a museum at all. Although it says "This is not a haunted house" at the entrance, it is a bit of a haunted house. There are contraptions that look handmade all over the hall. It's a simple mechanism, but it was very interesting and I had a lot of fun. The staff at each corner were also friendly and nice.
