Small little area with shopping and shrines. Great to see and explore. We were there during the cherry blossom and it was beautiful.

A stroll around the castle moat will take you to a collection of rather old houses, done in the early style but updated for convenience. Several are now tea houses or soba noodle shops, all set in very pleasant surroundings.

There are many things to see and do in the castle area walkway, including bridges and moats, museums (the Tanabe Art Museum), the Meimei-an historic tea house and samurai residence (buke yashiki)
