Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Akan International Crane Center is a great place to see the Red-Crowned Crane. This crane is native to Japan and, unlike other cranes, does not migrate out of the country in winter. They were thought to be extinct in 1950, but a Hokkaido farmer found some on his farm and fed them. This center breeds the birds to release into the wild. There are now about 2000 Red-Crowned Cranes. Most of the cranes were tending their nests when I visited so the only ones I saw are kept in pens near the center. There are also exhibits about the life of the cranes.

There's an observation area next to a large field, where the migrating red crowned cranes land, eat, and mate. Easy to see these cranes, and photograph them. It was a great experience.

Able to see the Red Crane at the Kushiro Sanctuary. This sanctuary house about twenty birds that have found a home in Kushiro. Nice exhibits and history of the cranes.

We went here as part of a cruise excursion and weren't disappointed with the number of cranes on the property. Our bus guide interpreted the park guide's explanations and we could see his passion for his work.

Impressive centre with all the facts regarding the cranes. I realise it was summer so no feeding but a couple of cranes were there. Video and exhibits was very educational and staff were helpful. Good luck on your preservation.

Have to be prepared to go through the bitterly cold weather to watch the red-crowned cranes. Watching the cranes interact, take off and land is still worth it.

We visited this centre as part of the photography tour with Michele Michiko. You can really see and observe the cranes dancing resting eating and flying in to this centre where they are studied and observed. It is a photographers heaven. When we there we saw photographers from all over the world. You have to pay an entrance fee to enter and be there early.

There are a ton of cranes here. Makes sense - they feed them. You know what else is here? a TON of expensive camera gear. I'm a reasonably serious amateur but the guys here were way out of my league. I'd bet there was in excess of $2 million in glass and bodies that had been standing here for hours to get pics of the cranes.

If that floats your boat then great. It's not my thing. But apparently it's a thing for a LOT of people cuz there were photographers from around the globe here.
