With all the hype, we were hoping to see the inside workings of this monastery. Alas, you can enjoy the serene grounds and the souvenir shop/museum, but the buildings are closed to all but worshipers. See only if you have time on your hands. Located...More

The convent is located up on the slope and there is a carpark area beside it that charges about 300 yen. The architecture are distinctly Romanesque and offer good photo opportunities. There are also statues of the St Michael and Virgin Mary but unfortunately the...More

Visited this place and remembered the number of steps climbing up to the monastery. The journey itself is wonderful with the views and the architecture of the monastery.

A small nice Monastery for the Catholic sisters. There is a room introducing the history and connecting a shop selling the confectionery, cards, souvenir etc. And there is a nearby convenient shop (beside car park) selling nice ice cream cone

A nice convent with good view from the top of the convent. Nice gardens and worth a visit if you enjoy a walk or stroll or if you really have nothing much to do in Hakodate.

The drive to the monastery from Hakodate was very scenic along the coast and the road leading to the monastery was very nice as well. When we arrived we were one of two groups visiting. There is a relatively steep hill leading to the front...More

This is a place where nuns live quiet life without outside's intervention. Stature of archangel welcomes you when you enter the ground. You won't see too much but buildings are beautiful. Nuns make living by making/selling sweets at gift shop so please buy something. Chocolate...More
