A series of red brick buildings along the harbour form the warehouse. They contain souvenir, fashion, sweets shops and a restaurant. There is also supposed to be a beer hall and wedding chapel but we did not see them.

These warehouses are an important reminder of the early contact between Japan and the west. Western style buildings are quite common in this part of town and are a remnant of Hakodate's status as one of five ports allowing trade with the west from the mid to late 19th Century. As with many of Japan's historical areas these have been... More

The warehouses had been refurbished and revamped to house little shops that sells all sorts of things. The warehouse looks beautiful and if u love history and architecture, do drop by and have a look. There is a cafe (Snaffle's) that offers yummylicious cheesecake.

Lots of shopping. Lots of food. Good place to visit after you see the other sights in Hakodate. There is a post office here with plenty of local postcards and stamps.

Passed by and it was a surprise because of its attractive outlook on the red bricks. Took a lot of shots and great "New Orlean" feel around the buildings.

Right near the water, this a great spot to relax, shop, or just walk around. There's a Starbucks matching the design of the surrounding warehouses, all kinds of shops, and some restaurants, including Lucky Pierrot. Lucky Pierrot is a Hakodate fast food chain that's become really popular recently.

There are many shops with quite a good mix of things to buy. From daily stuff, clothes, bags to souvenirs, etc. Will need some time to browse since there are several warehouse buildings to roam. Recommend to go earlier as some shops closes in the evening

This is the area to shop where you can find a variety of things to buy and not too expensive. It is a big warehouse so give your self time to look around.
