There are many historical attractions in Otaru, as well as cultural ones to be had. The local trades of glassware and leatherwork are of a high standard, and you can purchase small to larger quality gifts to suit your budget. There is also an interesting German style beer house!

I am not sure if it was because of the cold weather today that there are few people here. Anyway, most of the shops appear to cater for the locals, though there are a few which do advertise "tax free" purchases. Overall, I did not find anything special here.

Just another set of shops, with nothing special to recommend it. It could be a place to get out of the weather but otherwise, hardly worth the visit.

We reach this place around 6pm and most of the shop is closed. Nothing much to see or buy. End up just eat our dinner and leave the place.

Nothing much to see when passing through this street. Located just around otaru station. Shops wasn't open even we went early. Wouldn't really recommend as a place for shopping.

Not much shops but nice to visit because Otaru is a small town. - There is local sweet, not sure what it is, it made from flour and red bean inside. Tasty and very hot. Nice for winter. - Good to visit when it rains/snows because of roof above the corridor.

The shops do not sell any exciting products. The only ones we stopped in were the food souvenir shops to buy Royce chocolates, biscuits etc as they were tax free. The other shops had items that were uninteresting and too pricey.

I was there twice. Once it was closed in February just before the snow festival, as they were building some ice sculptures. This time around, I went back to explore but I was kind of disappointed. There's nothing much to shop and the shopping alley was very quiet. Therefore I just took some pictures and moved on to my next... More

This is a typical shopping street and really did not provide much of interest with many of the shops fairly tacky and not very interesting.

We stumbled on this location accidently and wandered through aimlessly. as we had bought so much glass we decided to purchase a cabin bag for our journey home. The shop assistant at the luggage store with limited English and we with limited Japanese were able to negotiate and purchase. Enjoyed the shopping in Otaru.
