I was there twice. Once it was closed in February just before the snow festival, as they were building some ice sculptures. This time around, I went back to explore but I was kind of disappointed. There's nothing much to shop and the shopping alley was very quiet. Therefore I just took some pictures and moved on to my next... More

This is a typical shopping street and really did not provide much of interest with many of the shops fairly tacky and not very interesting.

We stumbled on this location accidently and wandered through aimlessly. as we had bought so much glass we decided to purchase a cabin bag for our journey home. The shop assistant at the luggage store with limited English and we with limited Japanese were able to negotiate and purchase. Enjoyed the shopping in Otaru.

There are many lanes of shopping along this area. with some good bargains in some of the oldest shopping centre.

This place look old fashion. You can buy some local snack, sweets & ice-cream. But I found a nice good restaurant here. Small restaurant but food is good & reasonable price. If you are hungry just drop by for some nice food, is very near by the train station.

This is a small street with lots and lots of dessert like Le Tao, Japanese sweets and cracker, ice cream soft serve can be found every 200 meters. Sushi street - full of sushi restaurants is a highlight in this area as well.

Dont even bother wasting your time here. This place is "dead" and empty. I happened to walked pass here and decided to check it out. I was done in less than 10 mins. Boring

unless you enjoy watching the difference among different nationalities in organized tours buying things, not worth it as many of the items sold were less expensive outside of otaru at the large omiyage places where just the Japanese tours buses go.

At first we were using it just as a quick route through to our hotel, but it is well worth slowing up to look at what is available - delicious ice-cream; gorgeous cakes, coffee and chocolates; a couple of very stylish clothes shops; watches; a weekend farmers' market; etc; and you can even learn English!
