Place was abuzz with loads of people, families as there was a Melon Run. Nice scenes around this lake hugging Kairakuen Gardens. Spend some time here if can spare it.

A really huge lake which you will pass when going to for instance the Tokugawa museum. I was there in January with a lot of wind, so to be honest it was not very pleasant on the border of the lake (very cold). No activities...More

Sempa boadwalk is next to Kairakuen Park where is famous location with Plum tree during February-March. Also tie boadwalk, you can see downtown Mito and you can enjoy lovery swan boat ride. Spring season of course, you can enjoy Cherry Brossams.

We walked along the boardwalk to the park and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. Lots of Japanese cyclists and joggers. We were there in the afternoon, so all attractions were closed.

Walked the length of the lake back from karakuien park to mito jr station. Pleasant walk and even though it was the end of Sakura season. The trees were still beautiful. We even saw swans nesting and saw their eggs ! Great spring leisure walk

There was not much to do in Mito; but spending an afternoon around Lake Senba was lovely nonetheless. Watching the sun go down was just as exhilarating as always.
