A very entertaining day out. There are in fact two mountains. The beauty of this attraction is it has something to offer both experienced hikers and less active people. You can hike all the way up and down both if you feel like it. There...More

We went on a weekday and we were the only visitors. The weather was not very good so we were not able to see much. Anyway, the cable car ride was fun and my kids loved it.

There are several hiking trails at mount Tsukuba. We hiked from Tsutsuji gaoka, where the aerial tramway station is, and joined the Shirakumo bashi trail (white crowd bridge) later. It is considered as a beginners' trail and takes about 1 hour to the top. The...More

It required climbing many steps up to the cable car station, but taking the car up the mountain was well worth the effort. Once on top of the mountain, there is a shop/restaurant/observation tower from which you can see many miles in all directions. It...More

We walked in only one direction as there are different modes of transport that connect with the bus back to Tsukuba. Take your time to enjoy the views and the shops/restaurant and allow for a few hours up there.
