The red Tori gate by the lake is probably the most photographed Tori gate in Hakone. The Tori gate is easily accessible from the temple car park by going down 2 flights of steps or 10 minutes walk from Motohakone town. Go early morning to...More

There are renovations going on at the moment, so couldn’t get the full impact of the shrine as it was under tarpaulin in some places. Also a lot of steps to climb to get to it. But we enjoyed looking round. Make sure you go...More

You can walk up to the shrine and gate but can also get a great picture across the lake when on the boat with Fuji to the left.

If you are coming from Hakone-Yumoto Stn, I would advise taking the bus and depart at Hakone-Jinja-Iriguchi instead of MotoHakone. It is a much shorter walk. I visited early in the morning and it was not as crowded. There were still a line of people...More

The shrine well known world wide. It is a landmark. It is short walk after you get off a boat on lake ashi. It is one of the stops on the boat tour.

A not-too-strenuous short walk from Motohakone, this is a popular shrine with a famous tori gate on the sea that provides amazing photo ops. Worth checking out if you are in the area.

Visit the Shrine, a short walk from the main centre of Hakone. Take a camera as it is very picturesque, then walk down to the shore to the large TORI gate. A beautiful view across the lake.
