The highlight of the Hakone. Firstly, the setting in hakone is beautiful. Second, the art pieces are world class (including Picasso and Henry Moore). There ps also several exhibits tailored to kids, and the outdoor setting gives a wonderful open feeling to the place. What made it even better was that it was foggy the day we went there and... Located near the Chokokunomori Train station on the Hakonetozan line, the museum is a beautiful park with lots to see and admire. Part of the fun is to ride the line from Odawara Station which is also a Shinkansen Station to experience the cut backs the line takes to reach various stations. The Open Air museum is a 5 minute... I spent several hours here on an MWR tour. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and highly recommend it. The is something to inspire everyone here. Even if you don't give hoot about art, the natural surroundings are lovely. They have everything from Classic Greek Bronze to Modern Interpretive sculpture. I rented the English audio guide for 500 yen, and it... More

Some of the outdoor pieces were simply amazing, especially set against the backdrop of the clear January sky. The Picassos were not very exciting but still worthwhile. Use your Hakone Free pass to get a discount on admission.

This museum is really a must visit when you get to Hakone. The place is huge and spacious and lots of interesting arts displayed. Very accessible and my kids loves to run around the open space, asking questions about some arts and displays (that was the difficult part though, answering them with whatever comes to my mind). Visited this place... More

This was an amazing gallery, fantastically curated into the landscape (as you would expect of a Japanese garden. Also a spectacular, wide ranging selection of Picasso's works. Unexpected, fantastic surprise.

This was a wonderful museum in an otherwise drab visit to hakone. The art exhibits were really beautifully presented and located around lovely grounds. We spent a good few hours and found this a highlight

I have been here many times and still want to come back. It is a nice way to spend an afternoon just walking in the garden and looking at art. The Picasso pavilion is a highlight but there are work by many artists. My daughter reminded me that it has been opened almost 50 years which one seldom remembers.
