Although did not get to see Mount Fuji, Owakudani is a good stop to visit. Be prepared for the chilly strong wind and strong sulphate smell...

The cable car ride is an attraction in itself. You can see Mount Fuji from the cable car on a clear day. I'm afraid of heights so I normally skip cable car rides but this one made me feel safe and secure.

We were lucky to have been on this on a clear day, so we managed to get a stunning view of Mt. Fuji from the ropeway, and on the upper level. I highly recommend spending the 100 yen on the viewing binoculars around the cablecar station. Could see every flake of snow on Mt. Fuji!

On the trip up and down from Hell Valley, to be cocooned inside the bubble while you silently admire the landscape is magical. Don't visit on weekends or holidays as the Tokyo crowd is huge.

Incredible views of the natural sulfur chimneys and mount fuji, besides all the forests and mountains, the only bad thing is the plague of the first section to sulfur.

We tried to do the loop starting at Open Air Museum....big mistake---got through train, funnicular, one leg of ropeway in three plus hours, would have taken another 4 to make it around the loop. Should have started the other way, which would have probably saved time. Beautiful, but standing in lines all day not fun. Hakone Free Pass didn't pay... More

We were very glad the ropeway had re-opened but I can imagine why it had been closed over the crater--the fumes are pretty strong and if you are prone to sinus or breathing issues, bring an N-95 mask. We were glad to have ours on the cable car and at the crater station. The ropeway is efficient but there can... More

This was a fun and relaxing way to really take in the sights offered in Hakone. We were able to see mount Fuji which was a complete surprise! Although the line seemed long, the Q moved pretty quickly. Make sure you stop by the black hard boiled egg shop.
