There was a degree of cognitive dissonance as I walked through this street. It had the feel of a provincial town's high street, yet I knew that Yokohoma was a full-fledged city. The street was relatively narrow and closed to vehicular traffic (at least on...More

Enjoyed shopping here on a Friday afternoon with time to kill before flying out. Good variety of stores . International but without all the usual suspect brand name shops! Could do with some better food and drink options . But overall very pleasant. The main...More

Nice shopping area. Safe and clean. Shops are on the high end side, but nice quality products sold. Lot of restaurants you can dine at. Short walk to Chinatown and yamashita park. If in good shape you can walk from the cruise port terminal.

On the way from Yokohama Station, you can pass through Minato-Mirai, Akarenga, Noge-Street, Isezaki-cho Street, China-town, Yamashita-Koen (Park) and Motomachi. Then, from Motomachi, you can reach...More

When I lived in Yokohama 30 years ago I used to like to come to Motomachi for a stroll and some window shopping. In contrast to some other places around Yokohama and Tokyo, not much has changed here.

This shopping street has many branded stores and Yokohama brands like Kitamura and Fukuzo. Not really for young crowd. Probably for 30 years old and above. I always visit oldest bakery Pompadour and get cute knick knacks at Yoshida.

Just south of Chinatown is this lovely area stretching for several blocks with all kinds of retail shops. Many are handbag and clothing-oriented. There's even a Talbot's (US brand) here. It was fun to wander, although I didn't see any "local" handicrafts or similar stores...More

We arrived by taxi on a Saturday morning around 9:30 and and he whole street was still very quiet. A lot of flowers decorated this street and the "posh" shops. We sipped from a nice strong coffee and walked from north to south through this...More

We accessed Motomachi (by foot) after spending a leisurely walk around Yamate. Both Western and Japanese retail shops, cafes, restaurants in this area (tourist-friendly). In my opinion, many Japan-made shoes are comfortable and offer value-for-money; this is one place to try them on. Shop staff...More
